Ramblings of a MilkCrate

So ... we live in the country. We have three outside cats that started hanging around and the missus takes care of them. They can come in the garage, but the house is off limits. We ended up buying a cat tree for them in the garage. When we are home, the missus will leave the overhead door lifted about 12 inches for the cats to come and go. We sometimes get unexpected guests.

I get animals in my yard all the time (mostly foxes and deer)--but I'm not a big fan of critters like that.

Don't hurt the little guy, he's not looking for trouble.

Maybe a month back, we had a skunk in the garage. I didn’t find him in there, but you could smell him. And he scattered cat food everywhere.
Area I used to live had skunks all over the place, they're cute, especially a bunch of little ones, but I have no use for something that smells that bad and has no fear of humans.

So is it a "possum" or "opossum"?

Technically, that is an opossum, since it is in North America, although I grew up calling them possums. Possums are natives of Australia, band is a marsupial closely related to the Kangaroo. At least, that's what I was taught in AP Biology in high school.
