TGITHMF! That’s right, another short week and I am off work tomorrow. I overslept a bit today, so a DE got the nod.

Great lather and an easy three pass BBS for the win! I’ll take that all week long. Life is good!

Nice late morning shave today is brought to you by the letter “F”. Because it’s freakin’ miserable outside. It’s 54 degrees and raining ... yuck.

So the Hyashi had been on a road trip to get honed by @BarberDave. He used a Coti/Ark progression at my request. I have an SB Ark and wanted to know how a good SB edge should feel like. My soap/AS choice was because of the weather. I loaded the soap with a 20 second load time and that was too much. I probably could have stopped at 10 or 15. I had a ton of wet, slick lather.

40 laps on leather and it was go time. I went with my standard three passes of WTG, XTG and ATG with no drama to report. The razor did it’s thang, singing all the way. The edge is not as buttery smooth as a JNat, but it’s not harsh either. I think my SB will be a good finisher, delivering a smooth comfortable shave. Had a ton if lather left for a post shave lather while I cleaned my shave gear.

Wrapped everything up with a quick rinse and pat dry. Followed that up with a splash of the AS and everything was right as rain! Hm ... well a Summer rain. I’m clean shaved, smelling great and ready for my day off. Life is good!

Hey Tim glad to shave went well the edge will smooth out overtime Cody SB edges can be a little harsh in the beginning because they’re so sharp but they will mellow out after a few shaves

Thank you again for honing this one. I didn’t find it harsh at all and I like the edge. I’ll have to work with my stone on a practice razor and see what I can do. My progression is synthetic with an Ark finish, but I’ll have to see if I can get close to this edge.

So went and saw my mom and stepdad today for a visit. Had a real good time and found out that my stepdad had recently gone through some boxes of his dad’s and found his shaving razor, mug and brush. The brush had a metal handle with just a stub of brush hair. I failed to take a pic, but I will next time. The mug had an unused Williams puck that was every bit of 40 years old. The straight razor, my stepdad found and moved somewhere else and needs to find it again. He said once he finds it again, he is giving it to me. Can’t wait to see it. I don’t expect it to be anything fancy, but I hope it’s in good shape.

Here is a pic of the soap, in the mug.
