The Shave-
Welp early morning shave today ... IKR? This should have been a late morning shave. Had to get up early today because my eldest granddaughter was graduating high school. Hm ... what scent to choose for the big day, I ask myself. I was thinking Aramis, but the voice in my head said “use the soap/AS you used yesterday”. Looked over my shoulder and it wasn’t the voice in my head, it was the missus. I guess she’s digging the Sange de Drago. So ... I just grabbed the kit I had yesterday. A great shave and I was once again rewarded with a BBS shave. Life is good!

Home Front-
As I mentioned, my eldest granddaughter graduated today. I am so proud of her, but now I feel old. Had a late, light lunch with Deb’s eldest son. Then home to mowing and honey-do’s.

The Shave-
Late morning shave today ... yes! So I’m testing a couple of knots this week, which is cool. This morning was time for some random kit. Went back to the Haslinger, which I haven’t used in a while. And I grabbed the Florida Water, just because. Today was just about focusing on the brushes and their performance.

When comparing the brushes dry, the cashmere seems a bit softer and maybe floppier. Not sure if that is due to knot size and/or density or just knot characteristics. I like both handles, but probably leaned more towards the black just for visual appeal. The beehive handle has a lot more heft than the black one. The missus preferred the appeal, heft and size of the beehive. She couldn’t decide on the knot, when dry.

I am trying the Tuxedo first. Onto the shave. I thought I was starting with a damp brush, but when building lather, I found I was mistaken. Within 10-15 seconds, I had a ton of really wet, bubbly soap action going on. So ... let’s try it. I started face lathering and flinging soap to and fro. I wasn’t sure about the size of the knot and the splay potential at first. But the knot did a bang up job. Some synthetics I have tried, just didn’t feel right and I will admit that I lean towards natural hair. But this shave was different. I had a great lather going on and the brush just felt right. No awkward feel from the knot, the splay was easy to find, good backbone and the knot size worked well for me. The heft and weight of the handle was very nice. It lathers very well and is comfortable to use.

I kept my normal shave routine, which is 3 passes. I did WTG, XTG and ATG with and have no drama to report. The knot worked the lather up really well. That was the best lather I have had with Haslinger so far. The slickness and residual slickness were great. I did make note of that, but tried to stay focused on the brush. That was an outstanding shave and I am BBS for the win! The knot held a good amount of soap for a very nice post shave lather while I cleaned my shave gear.

Wrapped everything up with a quick rinse and pat dry. Then a glug of the AS and everything was right as rain! You know it! Damn that was a great shave. I scored some excellent performance out of the Haslinger and it just earned its “keeper” status. The brush also did really well and I think that would be a great brush to add to the collection. Life is good!

Home Front-
Mostly/kinda a chill day. I do have a few things to work in around the house. We have a sick pup. The male doxie has nausea and diarrhea and there is blood in both. Over the years, we have lost a couple of dogs to parvo, so that’s what I think when I see blood. Luckily our vet does after hour emergency. The pup is at the puppy hospital now on IVs. Doc says it’s not parvo and he can fix it. Bacterial infection in stomach. That is a relief. I think that’s all I have for you today.
