Primo's Journal du Jour...

IF I were King Gillette and a foreign country created an
OBVIOUS clone of my Old Type DE, I would have had a team of lawyers on it post haste.
King G would probably be OK with it as long as it didn’t dip into blade sales. I contend that his revolutionary business model was to generate profit from proprietary blades. The razors, although engineering masterpieces, were somewhat of a giveaway. This remains the model today of his eponymous company.

You may be correct. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a "deal" made to produce the razor and include Gillette blades.

Oh my goodness. I’m out of vermouth or that’s what I would be having now.

My Uncle Vinnie(please withhold chuckle), came to every family gathering with what appeared to be a small alligator skin suitcase. I discovered over time the contents were a complete Manhattan kit. He was never without and always sat at family gatherings nodding his head with a Cheshire Cat grin plastered on his face. Upon my 18th birthday he concocted one for me. I have never been able to duplicate that experience.

In the shaker add:
2oz Rye
2oz Carpano Vermouth
Dash of Bitters
TOP SECRET: 1/2t Luxardo Cherry juice
Add Ice, Stir vigorously, strain into a chilled Martini glass.
Add two Maraschino Cherries.

My bitters arrived today, I might have to join you. I usually mix a 2:1, though. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that particular vermouth around here…is that something that you alter the ratio for?

AoS Oud~~Simpson X3~~1908 Gillette/Spoiler~~Tom Ford Oud Wood

It seemed logical, after shaving with the Leresche, and commenting how I thought the design
was based upon---if not, stolen, from Gillette,
specifically the 3-piece Old Type, that I use that selfsame
razor this beautiful Sunday morning.
Side note: That is not tarnish on the cap, it's a reflection of something. Thank you.
...and now back to our regularly scheduled journal post.
I have also espoused the attributes of the AoS cream. They are a top of the line product.
Focussing on how the razor compared to the Leresche,
The OT is lighter and the handle is narrower, almost encouraging a light touch.
The top cap of the OT is slightly thinner and that difference makes the blade feel greater.
Aggressiveness, if you choose to use that term, goes to the Gillette.
Both razors shave wonderfully, BECAUSE, they both hold the blade securely and
offer a blade gap, which is easy to find and simple to maintain.
Verdict: Virtual Tie.

Since this fragrance has already received the coveted SWMBOSOA© (all rights reserved)

I chose it again and...yup, first thing Dr. Mrs. Primo says when she gets back from Indianapolis,
"You smell good"
Booyakasha.
Mic drop.

I get them at Meijer.
They have gone up in price from $15.00 to $24.00 !!!
Thanks.

I was hoping to get your secret Manhattan formula. Glad you posted it before involving your law firm. 😎

When I visited @jgreenepa , he treated me to a couple of his Makers Mark versions. 2 definitely did the trick. I gotta get his recipe too.

I’d been trying to acquire a taste go Scotch since it is so popular in these parts. Still a work in progress. So far I’m wasting cash that might be better wasted on more shave products.

Scotch drinkers are pretentious. Manhattan drinkers are the real deal.

AoS Peppermint~~Morris & Forndran Ali Baba 2~~FeatherAC/Professional Super~~Vintage Paco Rabanne Pour Homme

I like to start my week off right, with refreshing and invigorating Art of Shaving Peppermint cream.
The gel tips of this Ali Baba are crunchy when dry and luxurious when wet.

The Feather Professional Super blade is the sharpest-known blade in shavedom.
Vintage Paco Rabanne for the finish.

This powerhouse harkens back to the day when chest hair was sexy and hip-huggers were all the rage.
