XPEC~~Pure Badger Persian Jar~~Gillette #44/Sharp Star~~YSL M7 Oud Absolu

The above, pictured brush has been in storage for a while. My soon-to-be 30 year old son
purchased it for me about 7 years ago. I have seen one other just like it and it was/is owned by
Brian @mrchick on other fora.
The Pure Badger knot is scritchy, with only a minimum of backbone. Great flow-through and if
you're a fan of
exfoliation, this is your type of brush. BUT, in the right hands, (clears throat and tries to wipe the smirk off of face)
Voilà
IMG_0307.jpeg
XPEC has an interesting thyme/rosemary scent, plus some other unidentifiable aromas.
Excellent protection and slickness. Post shave is clean.
Last shave with the Sharp Star. Today, bravely, volunteered Sir Gillette #44.
Almost caught the baby and got a superior shave.
Good Oud juice in the spirit of the original YSL M7

This is the juice you should try if you are M7 "Curious", because it is very similar.
The opening is more citrus, rather than cherry cola, however, I distinctly caught a whiff of...
Comet Cleanser!

Vintage Williams~~Rubberset 400/3~~Boker~~Dyptique Oud Palao

Never, ever get tired of vintage Williams shave soap.
It's a tallow bomb, heretofore unrivaled in our modern shaving society.
Luckily, I have a lot of backups.
The Boker did an admiral job of wiping away the stubble. No nicks/cuts/irritation.
Today's fragrance is a new one layered with an old one.
IMG_0317.jpeg

Dehn al Oudh Malaki is a straight-up oud scent, without anything else. It makes for a perfect base
upon
which to layer. The Oud Palao was greatly enhanced and I am enveloped by a cloud of luscious Oud.

Very nice.
I saw some vintage Williams pucks the other day that were in a blue box with white writing (instead of the usual in reverse). Is there any significance to the blue box, Joseph?

Fabulously fragrant shave, Maestro!

Mike's Vetiver~~Somerset Simpson CH3~~Lo Storto Originale/Spoiler~~CFG Midnight Stag

Some traditional and non-traditional gear today. The brush harkens back to the glory years of
Simpson. The Best Badger is wispy-soft; holds a LOT of lather; excellent flow-thru.
The new Gillette Spoiler along with the Fatip really performed well.
Three, traditional passes and the baby is in the house. No issues.
Polarizing scent today (what else is new?) Midnight Stag.
I LOVE the "blue collar" scent of this juice. Ultra-masculine.

Love that butterscotch handle, Joseph, and it sounds like a fantastic knot.
Is the label askew? Sorry about that...I know what that is like.:ROFLMAO::sick:😇😆

Great slant shave, Maestro! How does one obtain colored Simpson handles? Enjoy your day!

Fine Lavender Pour Homme~~Simpson PL8~~Leresche #51/Gillette Spoiler~~Rania J. Lavande 44

First shave with the newly acquired Leresche #51. Thank you @NickCard
Upon first inspection, it's quite clear that the designers of this razor were heavily influenced
by the Gillette Old Type. BIGGEST difference is the weight. The Leresche weighs in at 63g,
while the Old Type weighs 51g.
The mechanics are exactly the same; three piece, open comb razor.
The knurling is also similar, but the handle is thicker than the Gillette.
The shave, you ask? Well, in the end, my friends, it matters NOT a WHIT, which razor one uses,
after all, it's the blade that shaves you not the razor.
This is a very nice example of quality workmanship and design.
Excellent tallowy goodness from the Fine soap. If you see a puck available,
I recommend picking one up. The old formulation was outstanding.
Cooler weather is upon us and yes, one can still wear a lavender fragrance.
My choice is this spicy, woody and aromatic juice:

I have always loved lavender. We have it growing on the garden and scent our home with
French lavender essential oil. Dr. Mrs. Primo are both great fans.
This juice combines the ethereal
aspects of lavender with the earthy and woody oud.
Outstanding stank.

Fine American Blend~~Simpson Astor~~Leresche #51/Gillette Spoiler~~YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme EdT

So recently, I have been on a Fine "kick", specifically, the old, discontinued tallow pucks.
Picked up two pucks of American Blends, a puck of
Lavender Pour Homme and a, what I thought was to be a
tallow puck of Snake Bite, only to receive a tub of the newly formulated Croap.
This is being returned, but what a HUGE product difference. Now, it's just like 99% of the Croaps that hit the market.

Too bad. I am not interested in those.
I took
the puck and grated it into this aftermarket container.
It was SO dry, it was like powder. I was able to press it firmly with the aid of an espresso tamper.
The resulting lather was...nothing less than extraordinary.
knBkjuN.jpg

Day two with the new Leresche. IF I were King Gillette and a foreign country created an
OBVIOUS clone of my Old Type DE, I would have had a team of lawyers on it post haste.
Very
nice razor, but not original in design.
I don't usually "pair" soaps and scents, but the scent of YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme is simply too good.

You will often read how the YSL RGPH is the
quintessential "barbershop" scent.
Personally, while I enjoy this scent immensely, "barbershop" simply doesn't enter my mind.

Great 51 shave, Maestro! It sounds like you enjoyed the shave. I like lavender as well, but can only use it when the bride will be absent for a few hours after application. Enjoy your Saturday!
