So....I'm reading this as confirmation that the next Concierge meet up is happening this October in the Bougie Bourbon & Beers Cigar lounge.

Went to the house after work yesterday and finished cleaning up the floor and put on the first coat of polyurethane. Planned on going back after the required two hours of waiting time to do another coat, but got lazy. Was up at 4:30 this morning to head over, sand, clean, and apply the 2nd coat. Will head over after work again for the 3rd coat. We'll see how it is after that. Flying out early tomorrow to Portland for a weekend trip to watch Indy car racing on Sunday with my dad. Have a tasting scheduled tomorrow afternoon at a Persian owned winery that we had been two once before. They were featured on a small part of a documentary about an Armenian wine maker who went to Iran and had grapes transported back to Iran to make the first wine from these grapes in some time. We have two bottles of the wine he made, but they were just delivered yesterday so haven't tried them yet. Interesting story either way.

Indy car racing?? I hate you

Hate me, too. I’ve been to just two Indy car races, but they were memorable. Al Unser won in 1972, and in 1976 won by Johnny Rutherford. Both were in Indianapolis over their respective Memorial Day weekend. 😍😉

I've only been to 1 Indy car race....and a driver was killed on the first. In the first turn. So that's how much Indy car racing I've seen.

Whew, quick trip and things are too busy. It was nice to see family of course, but feels like being pulled away from stuff needing to get done. Had 2 calls from the contractor on Friday to discuss electrical layout. I gotta love his favorite saying when he presents options "It's just a matter of money". We hit up a couple of fancy bakeries while there and a perfumery. Compared to the remodel, everything else seems cheap so I accidently came home with 2 new scents I'll post when I have time to take pics. The Indy car race was pretty good. It could have been cooler, but to our benefit I'm sure that's the reason a ton of people that had bought tickets didn't show up. We had nobody next to us or in front of us in the grandstands. Without that I don't think it would have been bearable just based on leg space. We noticed they got rid of most of their video screens, so we didn't know what was happening for most of the race in general, but we were right across from the pits so we got to watch the best part anyway. Today I have an all-day on-line meeting so that'll be what it is. Electrical work starts on the remodel today, and I head to the house after work to investigate water that was on the floor behind one of the toilets. I'm assuming we're looking at a new wax seal, it's just a matter of time to get to it. I fly to Seattle Wednesday afternoon to teach some classes at the hospital up there, and then back Friday evening. Two days, then we're off for Hawaii.

Just a matter on money. I've heard that one many times. On one hand it is a meant to convey the idea that you guy is capable of and willing to do whatever you are dreaming up, on th eother hand it is telling you you either dream smaller or pay bigger. The other part is "it's just a matter or time", meaning even if you decide you are willing to pay for it, it may take more time than you are willing to give (permits and work).

I saw a story over the weekend about a driver who won the race and got on his car to celebrate then promptly fell of his car knocking himself out when he hit the ground. Was this at your race? I wanted to laugh when i read the story but it was hard to because it was also pretty sad ...and I can't help but to feel that is the kind of thing that would happen to ME if I were to climb on the car to celebrate..

Electrical rough-in completed yesterday. Contractor is coming today to move the gas shut-off from behind the range today. Then I think we're pretty much waiting for the cabinets to be delivered in a couple of weeks. Floor in the cigar room is done. I need to reinstall the baseboards, and really should paint them first. And I think I have a good idea of the shelving I'm going to put up. Hopefully that can be completed before the end of the month. Otherwise, there's nothing major to be done before we move in early next month.
