Nurse Dave's Journal

Don't make the ghost of Carrie Fisher show up and haunt you. She's known to just whisper the F word in your ear for a while until you apologize for mocking her.
Well, if she comes to haunt me in that outfit, she can say whatever the heck she wants what scares me as you coming to haunt me dressed like that

You know that kind of comment sends Bougie off to his AI image generator lab..........like Dr. Frankenstein of the internet.

It's funny. I think of stuff all day long to put in the journal then, when I sit down to write it, I draw a blank. Hadn't mentioned a little while ago one of our cat went though a phase of projectile puking in a semicircle every few days or so. Buying that spot carpet cleaner finally paid off and it made it out of the box. This went on long enough we finally took her to the vet. They said this can be a symptom of thyroid issues. Which a slew of lab tests confirmed. So we've started applying some medicine inside her ear every day, which is soon to expand to twice a day. This is a lot of fun with a cat that doesn't really enjoy being held. So far it seems to be effective and we haven't had to scrub the carpet in some time. There is a company that will do the radioactive treatment just like KJ got, but it ain't cheap. So we'll have to see how much of an ongoing issue this medicine thing is.

Planning for the remodel is trucking along. Finalized plans for the flooring and we should be putting down a deposit this weekend so it can be ordered. Same with the countertop. A couple weekends ago we looked at appliances. While we won't need them for a few months, there are a bunch of rebates that will be expiring so I texted our salesman yesterday to see if he would be in this weekend to finalize our order. Good thing I did as the rebates, which account for like 40% savings, expired yesterday. Luckily he was in the store late doing paperwork and got our order placed. I think now we're done to buying the sink, faucet, and tile and the rest will all be labor costs. With almost losing out on the rebates yesterday, I ordered my air filter for the cigar room this morning to make sure the discount and free shipping codes I got didn't go away.

This weekend was a lot of paying people for stuff and organizing and cleaning. That will be our lot in life for a couple of months. My ex-boss reached out to me to fly up and do some training in Seattle where she's the COO of a hospital. I love doing the training and she was a great boss so I'm not saying no, but it come smack dab in the middle of when we're transitioning from one house to the other. So it will either be a nice break from manual labor or taking time away from stuff I have to get done.

My wife was gone Friday night, so I think I watched one of the most modern action movies. The Ice Road with Liam Neeson. It had it all. Terrible special effects, bad acting, and plot holes big enough for those trucks to fall through.

Talked about this razor on Drinks & Daves last night so I decided to honor it with another shave. Nice as smooth just like Apollo would have it.

Exactly 2 weeks until the demo stage of the kitchen starts. Getting a little excited, but also realizing that I'm gone for 3 of the 4 weeks the house will be empty before we move. That'll put a damper on how much can get done.

My daughter's 19th is this weekend and she'll be up so it'll be nice to see her. I also start a week of being on-call tomorrow morning, so here's hoping they lose my phone number!

Work sure is getting in the way of me getting work done. Productive weekend. Took a couple more loads to Goodwill, Celebrated my daughter's 19th. Tons of cleaning and packing. As soon as my daughter left on Sunday I had her bed up on the neighborhood site for free and it was gone about 3 hours later. That mostly finished off the last big thing we needed to get rid of.
