Hey Bruce! It's still today! Long story short. I'm covering for a director at another hospital while they are on PTO. Very important document they thought was all wrapped up before they left got lots of last minute input basically blowing up most of my week. I think it was finally just completed and she owes me a cookie.

Hey Bruce! It's still today! Long story short. I'm covering for a director at another hospital while they are on PTO. Very important document they thought was all wrapped up before they left got lots of last minute input basically blowing up most of my week. I think it was finally just completed and she owes me a cookie.

Holiday-filled weekend. Wife, the youngest (now 18) and I went to the Pink Martini concert at the Jazz Center in the city on Friday evening. Then spent 45min in the drive-thru line because the youngest doesn't understand just go home, go to sleep, and you won't be hungry anymore. My daughter came for the weekend so we watched a couple of holiday movies at home on Saturday including Red 1 which wasn't as bad as I assumed it would be. Then Sunday morning the whole family of 5 went up to the Dicken's Fair. Trying to chip away at all the stuff that needs to get done before Christmas day. Luckily, this is the time of year where there aren't many meetings at work because so many people are gone.
And hey! Excellent show tonight on Drinks and Daves. We're starting a three-part series of rum tasting because of the largesse of our own @EMG06 who we hope will be joining us live for part 3, the finale!

I was a little lazy today and decided there was no reason to hurry so I got to work about 1/2 hour later than usual. This resulted in a few things. First, sunrise. The SF fog, which usually rolls in in the afternoon, was covering the bay at least from Berkely to Palo Alto. I'll post a couple of pics in another thread, but it was really pretty with the airport poking through and little patches of light where the fog was thin enough to let a little through. Now, on the opposite end, there was more traffic. Usually, I'm at work before the normal riff-raff hits the streets, but there were a few more cars on the road this morning. I enjoyed all the usual suspects on my short drive. The person in front of me that's merging onto a 65mph (where everyone does 75) at 40mpg. The guy who merges from another highway right in front of me without looking and then shoots over 3 lanes to the fast lane, somehow just knowing he must be going faster than everyone already there. He wasn't. And the big landscaping truck sitting in the 3rd lane backing up everyone there I assume just so that he personally doesn't need to deal with the traffic coming and going from lane 4. Now I usually let Stefan sleep in because, being a man of sophistication, I want to handle the better pursuits such as my daily shave myself. Well, I think from now on he'll have to be on-call to drive me in when I'm late.

Speed limited by said riff-raff.
Put it in Beta mode and dial down the safety features. Stefan can hack into the Superlative-Speed feature.

Here we are folks, starting to wrap up the year. I had dinner with our old COO a couple of nights ago. It was nice to catch up. I'd love to work for him some time, but he came out of retirement to work at a county hospital. I don't want to work for him badly enough to do that. Today is our staff holiday party. I'm participating in my first cookie exchange ever. I'm bringing Levain dark chocolate peanut butter chip cookies. I'm hoping they are a show-stopper. We're supposed to bring 2 dozen, but these things are 6oz at baking weight, so I'm only bringing around 15. Just a partial day in the office this morning then next week off. Sooooo looking forward to it. Not looking forward to all the tasks, but I've been exhausted so totally can't wait to not have to get out of bed at 5:30am for a while.
Drinks & Daves update: Next Monday we have part 2 of our rum tasting/battle. The first session was very enjoyable and Eric has turned me into a rum drinker. I don't think it will take over from Scotch or Napa red wines, but I'll be buying a bottle or 4 after we determine which is the best. But the biggest news is we're having a special episode for the finale. Saturday, Dec 28th at 6pm Pacific with our live guest start @EMG06 himself!!!
