Her father had children pretty much for the free farm labor, and put them to work pretty early on
My parents told me that was why they had me(minus the farm part). Shortly after that I learned that if you do a bad enough job the first time, youā€™ll never be asked to do it again. šŸ˜‹

A bloodbath. That's the most accurate word I would choose to describe my first shave with the GEM Micromatic Clog Pruf razor I received the day before yesterday. I skipped a day just to get a good day and a half growth. Did a nice extensive prep. Was all focused and serene. Took my time choosing my soap, PAA Lavender Planet, which performed great. Then I commented to shaving. The head lightly touched my face and I began to draw the razor across my face, focusing on keeping the head flat against my face. I could hear the blade cutting. So far, so good. Then, as I did my left jawline, Bam! It bit me. I figured it was probable that this would happen, but by the end it grabbed me three times. It was nothing the alum block couldn't handle, but I've become used to wielding a double-edged blade without shedding any blood. I'll give it a few more tries, but it may end up as a collection piece. I finished up with a splash of an unopened bottle of Vintage Men English Leather, which is indistinguishable to me from the bottle of new Dana English Leather I just finished up a few weeks ago. Fine with me though, I just really like English Leather. It reminds me of my late Uncle, who wore it every day.

Prep: Hot Shower, Kiehl's Facial Fuel, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: GEM Micromatic Clog Pruf
Blade: GEM PFTE Stainless
Soap: PAA Lavender Planet
Brush: Thater Synthetic
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, Cold water rinse
After-Shave: Mem Vintage English Leather

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Sometimes we get into a rut or routine with our preferred shaving implements. I used to be pretty darned proficient with an injector, but now I can't seem to get them in "the zone".

Yes, that's true for sure. This was a very different feel, and angle.

Well that's disconcerting but expected. I haven't tried the Clog Pruf after the MMOC. I skipped right to the G bar and Push Button which both give smooth unbloody shaves. I often wondered if I could use and should try the Clog Pruf................ my curiosity has been been sated, Thanks

1 bite can happen to anyone. 3 bites is a sign.
Yes, although I'm chalking it up to having to hold the razor at an unfamiliar angle and maybe a little too much pressure. I'm going to give it a chance, but it was only $15 , so I don't have that much invested in it.

Don't get us wrong, we LOVE experimentation and encourage it. You may get it mastered in the process too. Personally, I think trying to get and maintain the flat to the face angle forces pressure at times and is the resultant cuts/nicks  (y)

I think you're exactly right.

Tonight I wanted fresh and smooth. It was a gray day here and I needed some pep.

Prep: Hot shower, Ach Brito Glyce Soap, Proraso Green Pre-shave cream
Razor: Merkur 39c slant
Blade: Gillette Nacet (1)
Brush: Parker Long Loft Badger
Soap: PAA Irish Springs
Post-Shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: PAA Irish Springs

I went with Proraso Green Pre-shave cream to wake my face up, and PAA Irish Springs for my soap and Aftershave. It really does remind me of the bath soap, which was my household bath soap when I was a kid. Very green, very fresh. I reached for the Merkur 39c, because although I can more reliably get a super-close shave with the Envoy, I'm very deeply experienced with the 39c from years as a daily driver, and it's the smoothest, most tug-free razor I own. Smooth and quiet. It was a very relaxing BBS four-pass shave, and I feel so much better than I did an hour ago. I achieved nothing today, I must admit, except improving my Madden 2020 football team. It was a day of low energy and now I'm ready to get three or four hours of A+ certification studying under my belt before bed. I was a Network Administrator for about 10 years back at the turn of the century, and I'm about 20 years out of date, so there's a lot to learn for the exam. Tonight's "green" shave has given me the energy I need.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Brother! When Stirling makes an Aftershave "glacial" they don't mess around!

Prep: Hot shower, Ach Brito Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Rex Supply Envoy
Blade: Astra SP (2)
Soap: Stirling Black Cherry
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Stirling Glacial Black Cherry

The Rex did its peerless job tonight. The real story is that Aftershave! My face is freezing, and so are my hands and chest I wiped them on after slathering that stuff on my face. I use Stirling Black Cherry bath soap, because I love the scent of black cherry. And the flavor. I just love Black Cherry. So I ordered the shaving soap and the Aftershave, springing the little extra cash for menthol. I got more than I bargained for! I've never had a menthol sensation this intense. I like it, don't get me wrong, but man alive, it's strong.

Tonight's first classic radio baseball replay was the 1934 All-Star game. I was very excited to hear at bats by Ruth, Gehrig, and others, but unfortunately the transcription discs the broadcast was recorded on were in very poor condition, and a substantial portion of the game was unintelligible. Fortunately, the second game, Game 1 of the 1949 World Series between the Yankees and the Dodgers, is crystal clear, with Mel Allen and Red Barber doing the play-by-play. These were the teams of my father's childhood, and he gave me his baseball cards from the period, so it's cool to listen to. Lots of Gillette commercials.

I have never tried the Stirling Glacial series...but now I am looking forward to getting some!

I LOVED their Black Cherry too when I got it...........................in the past tense as it now resides with the wife's shave items. Nice shave
It reminds me of IBC Black Cherry Soda, which I also love.

Today was an uneventful day, and the shave was pretty great.

Prep: Hot shower, Ach Brito Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Rex Supply Envoy
Blade: Astra SP (3)
Soap: Razorock Son of Zeus (first time)
Brush: Parker Long Loft Badger
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Spieck

The novelty tonight was Son of Zeus, and I did a poor job lathering it. I didn't load enough, added too much water, and ended up starting from scratch. So that was a minor pain in the neck. I'm also not overly fond of the scent. It strikes me as a cold-weather scent, so it will probably join Gatlinburg from Stirling in my, "Try again when the leaves turn" pile and not in my main rotation. Once again though, the trusty Envoy efficiently and closely gave me a four pass BBS, so I really have no complaints. Tomorrow, I'm going to start trying out my Mystic Water Soaps - I have 5 to try out, and I really like them based on sniffing the puck. So if they perform for me as they seem to do for so many, I've got some fun shaving ahead.
