A great mid-afternoon shave today and some exciting news!

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Astra SP (2)
Brush: @Techichi Tech Hive Synthetic
Soap: @CBLindsay CBL Smokey MTN. Cedar Tonsorial Shaving Soap
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
After-Shave: Ethos Succes Skin Food Splash
Talc: Borotalco

My old college roommate was cleaning out his mother's attic and came across what has turned out to be a Wilkinson Sword Empire 7-day set razor with a full set of blades and the original strop! He knows I'm into shaving and razors, so he's sending it to me. I'm thrilled. Hopefully, it can be made shave ready. I shaved today inspired by this happy news, and it was a great shave. The Smokey Mountain Cedar has a light scent, like a wooden chest gives winter quilts. It's very pleasant, and the soap performs beautifully. I'm BBS without irritation after four leisurely passes. No residual scent meant I could choose any AS, and I went with the Ethos Succes Skin Food Splash, which has such a rich pineapple scent. The Diamondback did its usual stellar job. I'm clean and smooth and ready for the Orioles Double header! Let's go Os!!!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

The Paradigm Diamondback makes it hard to ever justify going with anything else. It's the perfect razor for me.
That's how I feel about the Vector. To me, it's about the shaves, not the gear. Once I find products I like, I stick with them. That said, I occasionally go on soap and AS binges when holiday sales occur.

Skim reading is probably going to kill me some day. I had no idea that you could get Rosetta Stone in one go for all the languages. That's definitely right up my alley and could rekindle my interest in learning Russian and sharpen my Spanish and French.

I'm definitely going to do it. It's just too good of a deal. I bought the Latin American Spanish full set on DVD about three years ago because I got a great employee discount. Then, about a month ago, they emailed me to tell me I could freely upgrade to the online version, which I did. The phone app is great. Then last week, they emailed me to say I could get lifetime access to all 24 language courses for $99. That's an insane deal, so I'm going for it.

Insane indeed. I just looked it up and right off the bat, the same deal is $199. Even then, I feel that's a steal. I'll have to think about it a little more because at the end of the day it's still $200.

A nice afternoon shave with a new soap. An olfactory trip back in time to my Deadhead days.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Astra SP (3)
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket
Soap: CBL Premium Patchouli (first use)
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
After-Shave: Swiss Pitralon
Talc: Borotalco
EdT: Burberry for Men

My ex-wife hated patchouli, so when we started dating, I quit wearing it. I was a long haired Grateful Dead fan, and patchouli was part of the uniform, so to speak. I hadn't smelled it in years, so this was a nice trip down memory lane. To its credit, CBL Patchouli doesn't overdo it. It's present, but pleasant. The soap performs beautifully, soft on the face, slick, and with great residual slickness. Besides the wonderful soap, the shave was terrific. Four uneventful passes and a BBS shave was complete.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

I reset my shave to the mornings and passed over the artisans this morning for a truly old school shave.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Green Pre-shave cream
Razor: Schick Krona
Blade: Astra SP (2)
Brush: Simpson Berkeley 46 Best Badger
Cream: Proraso Green
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
After-Shave: Proraso Green
Talc: Borotalco
Frag: Nautica EdT

I've done a lot of soap purchasing of different artisans, and I've found some fantastic soaps as a result. But there's a good reason Proraso is such a long-standing success. It works and it works really well. Thick, slick lather, great scent, and leaves my face feeling refreshed and clean. It may not have the super soft buttery face feel of some artisan offerings, but I got a four pass BBS with no irritation, and the remnants of the menthol feel great! The Schick Krona does such a wonderful job too. It's a razor I'm glad I own. It's light and smooth and with the Astra SP did a terrific job. I'm calling this an old school shave. I need to try out the La Toja stick I got, so maybe tomorrow. I've never used a stick before. Oh, and the Simpson Berkeley is a great brush!

I'm going to do some serious leisure reading today, and I have some errands to run. That's the plan.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Excellent shave! I like Proraso Green and the Red as well!

I hope you like La Toja...it’s very unique in scent, I love it! Another great, classic soap.

Early morning shave.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Astra SP (2)
Brush: Yaqi Sagrada Familia (first use)
Soap: CBL Roasted Oatmeal Stout
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
Aftershave: Pitralon Classic (first use)
Talc: Borotalco

I was perusing the soaps this morning, and there are still 3 or 4 I haven't tried yet. But when my eyes fell on the Roasted Oatmeal Stout, I immediately decided to use it this morning. I whipped up lather with the new Yaqi brush. It's a very nice brush. Smaller than the Tech Hive, but very similar in terms of performance. I think the knot in the Yaqi is a bit more sense, but as far as backbone and softness is concerned, they're very similar. A nice relaxed four pass BBS shave with only a solitary weeper under my chin. I tried the Pitralon Classic, and it's very fresh, with a nice menthol kick. The fragrance is already fading, so I'm going to go apply an EdT.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!
