I couldn't wait til morning to try out my new Fatboy.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Gillette Fatboy on 7 (first use)
Blade: Gillette Platinum (1)
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Soap: SV Cosmo
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
Aftershave: Fine Platinum
Talc: Borotalco

After almost two weeks, my replated Fatboy from @Techichi arrived, and it is beautiful! This is my first adjustable, although I used @Spider 's in the passaround. The passaround ended up convincing me to get a Fatboy and a Krona, and I really like them both. I used the Fatboy on 7, and that feels good to me, and it did a great job of mowing down the stubble. I'm very happy with this purchase. Another purchase I'm happy with is the SV Cosmo. I wasn't sure about the scent when I first got it, but it's grown on me, and it's a soap I keep returning to. It's not even dented, so it's going to last me a long time. A four pass BBS shave with my new razor and I'm ready for some reading, and then to bed. And I'm absolutely filled with anticipation for @BarberDave 's review of Sē'būm soap and serum! A tax refund may hang in the balance!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Great read Frank! SV Cosmo was my first SV soap and I really like it. The scent reminds me of incense and wood. So far it is the only SV soap I have tried, but that will change when the Desert Vetiver soap comes in this week. Really excited to try out the 4.3 beta base!

Thanks, Pat! I'm going to pick up some Desert Vetiver later this month. I have Cosmo and Opuntia, and I love them both!

Today was a special shave with a special razor from a very special friend!

Prep: Hot Shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap
Razor: Wilkinson Sword Empire Monday Blade (first use)
Blade: Monday blade from Empire Set
Brush: Tech Hive Synthetic
Soap: PAA CaD (first use)
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
Aftershave: Pitralon Classic
Talc: Borotalco

I had planned on shaving today with my newly acquired Fatboy for a second time, but mail call and encouragement from @Dave in KY changed all that. My old college roommate and I are very close. He's one of those few friends with whom I can pick up right where we left off. He lives in Manhattan, and is an app developer for the City. Both he and his wife endured and recovered from Covid in the Spring, when NYC was in such bad shape. He was helping his mother clean out her attic, and came across a chrome art deco box that contained a Wilkinson Sword Empire Seven-Day razor set in either like new or NOS condition. It had the handle, all 7 blades, and the strop, all in immaculate condition. The strop is still soft, pliable, and supple. He had no interest in using it, as he's a cart and goo man, but he knew about my hobby, so he just gave it to me! It arrived today. I posted about it over in the Mail Call forum, and @Dave in KY suggested I give it a try. So I left the Fatboy in the stand and proceeded to give the Empire a try. I stropped it, which is done with the blade mounted in the handle. The blades show no indication of use or wear or corrosion. They are like new. It's adjustable, so I set it right in the middle of the range, twisted the base of the handle to lock everything in place, and then did my shower and prep. Today I also used PAA CaD for the first time, and I really like the scent. It's a "barbershop," but my memories of barbershops are the scent of Clubman AS and talc. I really like it. It was plenty slick and was nice and wet and ready for the Empire. I was ready to bail out if it was a dull blade, and after up to 90 years sitting in an attic, I was expecting a rough ride. It was ever so slightly tuggy, and there's way more blade feel than any of my DE razors, but it produced a dollop of whisker-filled lather. It was cutting, and not really uncomfortable. I just had to really watch the pressure. I dialed back the aggression a little bit, and proceeded to do a four pass shave. I had to do a bit of touch up, but after it was all over, I was BBS and with no irritation! I'm over the moon about this razor. I carefully disassembled cleaned and dried the razor and blade while the Maravilla dried down, and finished with Pitralon Classic and some talc. It was a great shave, and I can't wait til tomorrow to try Tuesday's blade! It's a good day!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

WOW, so glad it turned out such a good experience for you Frank. Congrats again on not only a great friend but a new piece of history in your den.

All caught up frank glad you are enjoying the shaves and Does he replate all razors?

I'm not sure which razor you're referring to since I got two this week. The Fatboy was replated by @Techichi. The Wilkinson Sword Empire isn't replated, it is in like new condition.

I had a sit down talk with my 78 year-old mother tonight to explain to her that life is a series of choices. She's had a Gmail account for around 10 years, and I discovered that she has never deleted an email. She has some 21 thousand messages in her inbox. I discovered this because she got an email from Google telling her she was out of storage space. So she forwarded that email to me asking me what to do. I took a look at her account, and her Gmail is taking up 15.1gb of space. So it took her 10 years to accumulate that much email. I told her she has a choice to make. She could spend hours reviewing and deleting emails, hoping to outpace the influx, or she could pay Google $1.99/month for 100gb of storage. My mother grew up in extreme poverty, so she will not spend a dime beyond what she feels is necessary, so it was a hard decision. Me? I have thousands of archived emails dating back to 2005, thousands of pictures, and thousands of mp3 files, not to mention scans of all my bank statements and any other personal records. I pay for 2tb without blinking over the $20 a month for that. She thought long and hard about it before giving me the go ahead to sign her up for the $1.99 100gb plan. Even with all the "funny" videos and memes she gets from her circle of octogenarian friends, I don't think she'll ever have to worry about cloud storage space again.
