No shave to report, I just heard this song and remembered how great it is, so I thought I'd share it. The video has talking in it that detracts from it, but it's still pretty great.

I had a great morning shave. I broke out the Rex Envoy after several weeks, and was reminded how much I enjoyed it back in March when I used it exclusively.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Cella Pre-shave gel
Razor: Rex Supply Envoy
Blade: Personna Israeli Red (2)
Soap: Hub City Soap Company Morning Hike
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Fine Italian Citrus
Talc: Borotalco

I bought the Envoy about 6 weeks before I got the Paradigm Diamondback. During that time I used the Envoy pretty much exclusively, and I got used to it. It has a substantial blade feel, akin to a NEW LC, but heftier, and with a thicker handle. The knurling on the Envoy is the best of any razor I've used. It can bite you, and demands focus, but it rewards that attention with a super-close shave. Then I got the Diamondback. In physical terms, the razors couldn't look more different. The Envoy has a matte steel finish, and a modern, CAD-like design. It's handle is shorter, round, and thick. The Diamondback is a mirror-finished art deco design with a long, hexagonal handle. And they shave differently as well. The Diamondback is efficient, but has less blade feel, and one feels less vulnerable to bites. But I've never shaved with a razor I like better. I have a Karve with a B plate, but it isn't in the same class as the Diamondback and Envoy. I went with the Hub City Soap Company Morning Hike again, and I really like this soap. It is slick, lathers like a dream, takes a lot of water, and leaves my face feeling supple and hydrated. A splash of Fine Italian Citrus and a cloud of talc, and I'm ready to face the day.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

What a shave!

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Personna Israeli Red (3)
Brush: Semogue Boar
Soap: CBL Breakfast Blend (first use)
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Proraso Green
Talc: Borotalco

I went sort of nuts and bought 9 tubs of CBL soaps, 6 Tonsorial and 3 premiums. They arrived yesterday, and today I tried Breakfast Blend. What a great soap! It loaded and lathered easily and is very slick, with great residual slickness and a terrific post shave feel. But oh! The scent! I would've never thought I would enjoy a coffee scented soap, but man alive, did I love this aroma. The combination of the coffee with the inherent scent of the soap broadened the effect, not a sharp, bitter scent, but almost like an Arby's Jamocha milkshake. Creamy and rich. It was strong enough to enjoy with every inhalation of my four pass BBS shave. I can already say that I'll use it again tomorrow, I enjoyed it so much. Now, I'm headed to the grocery store. Covid has spiked in my county, and the Mayor has issued a mandatory mask decree, so hopefully everyone will comply, although I'm sure there will be a few who aren't taking this seriously. I'll just mask up, get in and get out as quickly as possible.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

I'm glad you liked the soap Frank! CBL soaps are in my top 5 soaps for both performance and scent. I have not tried breakfast blend, but ROS, Dragonsblood, and Iron Throne are my favorites so far.

Thanks Pat! I'll probably be ordering a couple more next month. I'll be sure those are on my list!

I loved the Morning Blend soap when I had it...the scent was perfect. I was sad when it gave me skin irritation though, had to trade it.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm very fortunate when it comes to that. I've never really had a bad reaction to a soap.

I woke up early this morning, and after pondering my shaving choices for a few minutes, I remembered that I had a new @BarberDave video to watch. He inspired my choice of Aftershave, and Ken Surfs inspired my choice of razor.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Karve Brass OC B plate
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Green (1)
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Soap: CBL Tonsorial Insurgent (first use)
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Captain's Choice North
Talc: Borotalco

I don't use North very often because, although I love it, it's unobtainium, and I have less than half a bottle remaining. The Karve did a terrific job of giving me a smooth, irritation-free BBS in four passes, and I tried out another new soap, CBL Insurgent. I am completely unable to identify any notes in the scent, except maybe some leather. It's a rich scent, but not at all overpowering, and I'm proud to use a Banned soap. Before I shaved, I installed a new shower curtain, which went well. I'm clean and smooth and ready to go!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

It's a hassle, but I'll get mildew if I don't do it every couple of months.
