Yeah, that's definitely hot, but there again, are you dealing with the heat plus humidity? Makes all the difference. I'd like to invite both you and @BarberDave to spend a week here in Alabama to experience it firsthand.

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Going with some Sci-Fi inspired ambience today. Hope you enjoy.

Incredible shave this morning! Returned to ETHOS Grooming Essentials / @Dragonsbeard and Frank's wonderful "Mélange d'Agrumes" shave soap and splash. Fantastic scent with incredible lather built with the Paladin 2-band badger brush for three passes with the '59 "Fatboy" and I finished with alum and the matching skin food splash.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Another nice cool day. Nicer than yesterday in fact! Currently 77° with a nice breeze out of the east. Some rain but I'm not complaining!

Hope you have a great day. :)

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Kicking off your Tuesday with a couple from bassist / composer / multi-instrumentalist, Mick Karn. Hope you enjoy.

"Best Shave of the Week" candidate this morning! Returned to CBL Soaps and Chris' excellent "Spaghetti Western" shave soap and splash. Fantastic scent with notes of Sicilian citrus, tumble weeds, terra-cotta clay, leather and gunpowder. Super slick and cushioning lather built with the Paladin 2-band badger brush for three passes with the '58 Super Speed and I finished with alum, Quinn's "Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind" witch hazel, the matching aftershave tonic and Acqua di Parma Colonia EdC.

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

It's "Women of Rock Wednesday" and today I'm going with a couple from German Synth Pop band, Propaganda. Hope you enjoy.

Nothing fancy about today's shave. Just great products which together provided a fantastic shave. Returned to my vintage 1930's Renleigh shave soap. No scent, but a fantastic lather built with the PAA synth for three passes with the '58 Super Speed and I finished with alum, Quinn's "Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind" witch hazel and vintage Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur aftershave lotion and EdC.

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Gonna take a musical detour over the coming days. My old band, Lychesis never got things going like we wanted. But we would often talk about playing out and what songs we'd do in addition to our own, original music. The local scene here has never been into all-original bands (let alone a band that wrote and preformed complex, original progressive rock & metal music with songs that often clocked in at over 9 minutes each) so we knew from the jump that we'd have to sprinkle in more well-known, accessible songs that would appeal to a wider audience. We were an eclectic group with diverse musical tastes, backgrounds and inspirations. The guitarist was big into Symphonic Metal (Savatage & Nightwish), the keyboardist was a die-hard 80's girl who loved synth-dominated songs, the singer was a HUGE 80's Hair Metal fan, the drummer was into jazz and fusion, but also liked harder rock and me, well you all know my wide-ranging musical tastes. So beginning today I'm going to spotlight some of the songs that came up in these discussions. Hope you enjoy.

Another "Best Shave of the Week" contender this morning! Returned to Stirling Soap Co. and their excellent Irisch Moos homage, "I, Rich Moose" shave soap. Excellent reproduction of the original scent with a thick and slick lather built with the PAA synth for three passes with the '56 "Gold Tip" and I finished with alum, Thayers "Cucumber" witch hazel and Maurer & Wirtz "Irisch Moose" aftershave lotion and EdT.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Not feeling great this morning. Tweaked my back last night, bending over to pick something up. Ain't getting older wonderful?

Hope you have a great day. :)

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Continuing on with some of the potential cover songs my old band discussed. As I stated, our keyboardist, Carol was a die-hard 80's girl and these were a couple that she proposed. I would have been fine doing both!

Today's shave wins the week! Had a whole other shave set up but changed at the last minute, deciding instead to grab my tub of the OG "Hombres Barbershop". It's been a while since I last used it and I had forgotten what a fantastic soap this is. IIRC, this was an attempt by Chris / @CBLindsay to reproduce the old Williams tallow shave soap. After having done the Williams Challenge earlier this year, I have to say, it was damn close! Great scent and a phenomenally thick and slick lather built with the Wild West Brushworks synth for three passes with the '56 "Gold Tip" and I finished with alum, Thayers "Unscented" witch hazel, the matching aftershave tonic and vintage Avon "Black Suede" EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Back's feeling better. Still a little sore but much better than yesterday.

Hope you have a great day. :)

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

It's "Synthwave Saturday" so here's a playlist for you. Hope you enjoy.

Another phenomenal shave this morning! Easily on par with yesterday's. New soap day with the arrival of "Campari" soap and splash from ETHOS Grooming Essentials. Incredible scent!! This is a citrus bomb! Easily one of the best citrus forward items I've ever used. I get a BIG dose of Ruby Red Grapefruit off the tub that only intensifies when lathered. Once on the face the other notes of orange and mandarin appear. Very nice! A very slick and cushioning lather built with the Paladin 2-band badger brush for three passes with the '56 "Gold Tip" and I finished with alum, Quinn's "Pink Grapefruit and Orange Rind" witch hazel, the matching skin food splash, a dusting of Pecksniff's Grapefruit and Citron talc and ADP Colonia EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Back to the super hot and humid temps.

A relaxing Sci-Fi ambient stream for your Sunday. Hope you enjoy.

Great shave this morning! Returned to PAA and their excellent 4711 homage, "11235". Identical scent to the original with a super slick and cushioning lather built with the Paladin 2-band badger brush for three passes with the '56 Super Speed and I finished with alum, Quinn's "Pink Grapefruit and Orange Rind" witch hazel and Muelhens "4711" ASL and EdC.

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

A return to featuring some of the songs that my old bandmates suggested, these were a couple from Bill, our guitarist. The plan was to introduce whichever one we were going to play as "one of the greatest love songs ever recorded". 😁 Hope you enjoy.

Great shave this morning! Returned to A&E and their excellent "Cuban Highball" shave soap. A nice "boozy" scent with hints of lime and tobacco and a fantastic lather built with the Rich Yuengel synth for three passes with the '56 Super Speed and I finished with alum, Thayers unscented witch hazel and Czech & Speake "Cuba" ASL and EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: It's definitely a Monday..

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Going with a couple of songs which I proposed for the band to play. "High Hopes" from Pink Floyd has always been one of my favorite songs. This version is by the band Nightwish and shows what it sounds as a Symphonic Metal song. "Waiting for Darkness" is another one of my all-time faves that I think would have worked well with our band. Hope you enjoy.

Was in the mood for an Old Spice shave this morning. Fantastic old school scent with superb lather built with the Stirling synth for three passes with the British No.58 Set and I finished with alum, Quinn's Grapefruit and Orange Rind witch hazel and vintage Old Spice ASL, talc and EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Tired this morning. Slept okay last night, or I thought I did. A great shave and coffee are helping.

Hope you have a great day. :)
