supertrunker

i have enough trouble driving my crappy car to work let alone thinking about how you guys reverse one of those giant things. Whilst it'd be difficult to describe me as a 'people person', i do like to make it home each night, swear and close the door! As i'm older i pay more attention to the diet too, and i'm lucky my wife can cook and when push comes to shove, so can i.Thanks for the intended compliment. A supertrucker amongst drivers is a pejorative - a driver who breaks all the rules, aka a dumbass. At our company a driver will say, “I haven’t had a vacation in five years. I’ve had one load after another, but I’m making the money.” He might be a supertrucker. That sort of thing. Indeed, truck driving is a different sort of lifestyle. Even the administration staff almost expect you to forfeit any sort of personal life. If it weren’t for wife working too I couldn’t take the kind of time off between loads as I do. Owner-operatators virtually live out of their trucks. Missing the kids grow up, missing school and sporting events is common. Divorce rate is exceptionally high. Most drivers today are lonely, no support system at home. Most eat out every meal. Obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes are insane. I have a wonderful wife, a great home life and support, but I work at it too. My wife keeps me reasonably healthy with home cooked meals I take with me from home. I have a refrigerator in there truck that will hold 20 Rubbermaid containers. Trucking is often a career for the least educated or failures at other. I consider myself educated and intelligent, but I did fail at two previous careers. One doesn’t get too many chances to start over in life and the cab of a truck is where we often land. I like driving a truck and I have a happy life… and that’s good enough.
One the most intelligent men i met was a hippy that solved crosswords in minutes, made stained glass windows, and sold chilies on a market to make cash!
i work in Texas as a CAD drafter for the oil, gas, marine industries and i draw gaskets mostly. It seems we are very lucky indeed.
