Let's All 3017... 2020 CBL Tonsorial Edition!

Razor: Merkur Progress
Blade: Laser Ultra (New Blade)
Soap/Cream: CBL Premium Soap - CBL Tonsorial - Balsamic Oud (3rd Shave)
Brush: Stirling Synthetic
The Penultimate Aftershave: Humphrey's Lavender Witch Hazel
The Ultimate Aftershave: Aqua Velva - Ice Sport

Starting the CBL 3017 that just goes completely against my character. For as long as I can remember, I have been a man of variety...never settling on one thing for any length of time. So I am not sure how this is going to work...but I will give it a try.

The CBL Soap of course whipped up a nice and creamy lather...no fault there at all. Balsamic Oud is a really nice and light fresh smelling soap. So this will give me an opportunity to use up some aftershaves that don't have much longevity and use some fragrances that I have.
Started early did we my young Padawan ? Nice job Don

2020 Shave # 2 ( 422 Consecutive Shaves )
Razor: Blackland Vector
Blade: Schick Proline (16)
Brush: TSC Anniversary Brush
Soap: CBL Tonsorial Fresh Lime 3017 (2)
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Sweet Comb Chicago
Fragrance: Pierre Cardin

Just an amazing shave today with the Tonsorial Lime. I see after 2 days what can happen with a 3017 and dialing it in. All dialed in so I can quit now....................NOT so fast !!! I'm enjoying this too much and I am committed to the 3017...................at least for now. I could feel the Fresh Lime had a slight cooling to it and it seemed to build with each pass. I look at the name but no reference to the cooling. I then saw in the ingredients list "cooling agent" Aaaaaah @CBLindsay had a ghost entry of the ghost cooling agent. Nicely played Sir. Shave 16 on the Proline makes me work harder for it but still surprised me that it got the job done with more strokes. I'll see if I replace it soon or not based on how long the whiskers stay at bay.

Day 2. Followed up SIR Fougere today with some more Sir Irisch Moos AS, however, I've always found it to be dreadfully strong. So today I mixed up a little bit 50/50 with Witch Hazel to cut the strength. Ended up pretty nice. Next batch needs a little less WH though.

Tomorrow, I'll be using another AS with it, that smells very close to the Moos..... stay tuned.

Great performance from the soap even though it almost died on me at the end. I'll load a bit longer tomorrow.

It's too bad I didn't notice the tonsorial soaps sooner. I really like CBL but the hemp formula didn't work for me. V for vetiver sounds like a scent I'd really like. I hope they stick around for a while.

I don't have an extra of that but do have an extra beta puck of the Roasted Oatmeal Stout. I could ship it to you tomorrow if you want. Just say the word !!

Um, yes I did. And for the record I just found a new Vetiver based frag that EVERYONE must try. It’s call “RED VETYVER” by Montale. It is very close to Terre d Hermès (Orange Dirt), it shares plenty but it is also different.

Great, but reviewers say they can not detect any vetiver scent in that frag, good as it is.

The V for Vetiver is a pretty great scent for sure. If you PM me you address I can send you a tub this weekend
Wow, such generosity! Thank you, both! Dave, I really appreciate the offer but I'm pretty sure that scent wouldn't be right for me.
PM inbound, Chris. Thanks so much!

VERY Interested! Montale makes some really nice scents!

Razor: Merkur Progress
Blade: Voskhod (New Blade)
Soap/Cream: CBL Premium Soap - CBL Tonsorial - Balsamic Oud (4th Shave)
Brush: Stirling 24 mm Fan in Finest Badger
The Penultimate Aftershave: Humphrey's Lavender Witch Hazel
The Ultimate Aftershave: Aqua Velva - Ice Sport

I switched to the badger brush today and I have to say that man...this soap lathers really well with a badger brush. It works just fine with the synthetic also...but something about Stirling Finest Badger that just created a lot of lather...and a lot of really rich lather at that!

I understand what 3017ing a soap is, but where did that come from? Just curious.
To 3017 soap means to finish the soap to completion. Over at another forum, a person (not sure exactly at this moment who said it) said that he had enough shaving soap to last until 3017 and doesn't need to purchase any more. This became known to finish a soap to completion. I am sure I am missing some kind of detail...but I am sure one of the Cadre Members will be around soon enough to correct what I have wrong.
