Let's All 3017... 2020 CBL Tonsorial Edition!

I had to step away from the 3017 since I was in possession of the Soap Sample Pass-Around Box. But I am back. A little behind the power curve, I know...but really enjoying this soap!

Razor: Merkur Progress
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum (Black) (New Blade)
Soap/Cream: CBL Premium Soap - CBL Tonsorial - Balsamic Oud (9th Shave)
Brush: Stirling Synthetic
The Penultimate Aftershave: Humphrey's Lavender Witch Hazel
The Ultimate Aftershave: Fine Accouterments - American Blend

Well the Soap Sample Box has come and gone...I am happy to get back to the CBL soap. And today...well...today...was a really good shave! I didn't forget how good CBL soap is...but I realized this morning just how good the CBL soap is! An absolutely amazing shave. I did get a few weepers on my neck...but I observed this morning that these weepers might be the result the corner of the blade making them and not some other bad technique I have. Anyway, there are a couple trouble spot on my neck that are not as smooth as I would like, but are smoother than I almost always am able to get. The rest of my face is slicker than an aquatic mammal in the middle of an oil spill. Wait? Can I say that?

A few VERY healthy glugs of Fine American Blend and man do I feel good! Don't worry though...I will apply a few more glugs...you know...just so the people in the elevator can smell me. 🤪

So, today I finally broke through the soap and now have a small doughnut hole in the middle of the puck. It still looks like I have a sizeable amount of soap remaining, but now the progress is unmistakably there. We will see how long it takes to finish.

Time to start thinking about the next soap to 3017. I am hoping to empty a few containers this year. And I have some stuff that I bought back in 2016 or 2017 that needs to get some use.

Back on the 3017 today and had a great shave. Had my brush soaking and soap blooming before I remembered to snap a pic so I improvised.

2020 Shave # 31 ( 450 Consecutive Shaves )
Razor: Yuma
Blade: Wizamet (12)
Brush: Stirling Badger
Soap: CBL Tonsorial Fresh Lime 3017 (31)
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Terre D'Hermes Splash
Fragrance: Terre D'Hermes EdT

Nice 3 pass shave again with the Yuma and shave 12 on the Wizamet. I'm debating to maybe just use this one straight thru the start of 1 blade February to see if I can take it all the way to the end of that month. Shave 31 on the 3017 and we are sitting at 62 grams now. Based on @Spider calculations that's 22 grams left of soap. Topped off with Terre D'Hermes Splash and EdT, Have a Stellar day Cadre !!!!!

Razor: Merkur Progress
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum (Black) (2nd Shave)
Soap/Cream: CBL Premium Soap - CBL Tonsorial - Balsamic Oud (10th Shave)
Brush: Stirling 24 mm Fan in Finest Badger
The Penultimate Aftershave: Humphrey's Lavender Witch Hazel
The Ultimate Aftershave: Fine Accouterments - American Blend

Back to pretty much the same shave as...well...Monday. Some really nice post shave results too. When I finish with my shave...I squeeze all the leftover lather from my brush and apply it to my face for a few moments. Just trying to take in all the scent and skin food products that the soap might have. Of course, I likely wouldn't do this if I was shaving with Arko (although, I am a huge fan of Arko). Anyway, today I left the lather sit on the face considerably longer. The result is a really smooth and supple face.

Three passes and I am feeling good. I applied the requisite dousing of the 55 gallon drum of Fine American Blend. It might have been easier if I would have just jumped in a tub of it! Yup...Everyone at work will appreciate me!

Again, pretty much the same shave for me. I changed out the brush again to the TSC Anniversary brush...but other than that...same soap, same razor, same blade, and same after shave. I really do think that the CBL Soap gets better with each use. I know it's probably that I am dialing it in as we say. But man does this stuff just lather in a super creamy way and really feels good on the skin! Three passes and I am smoother than...well...I am not sure what I smoother than. I will let you all fill in the blank!

The shave itself was really enjoyable....except that I caught my lower lip. A little blood...but nothing that I can't handle. I only mention this because this is the first time I have cut my lip shaving. I have cut my ear, the tip of my nose, my nostril, even my collar bone area, but the lip...that's a first.

I didn't get any compliments from people yesterday about how good I smell. So I guess that means I didn't use enough aftershave. Looks like I will be going for five or six glugs of aftershave instead of the standard three or four glugs!

Today was the PAA Prismatic for the shave with a splash of Jōvan Musk to finish. Good stuff.

The puck started breaking apart on me today. I will need to continually press the soap pieces into the bottom of the Old Spice mug for the remainder of this 3017, but that is a small price to pay for finishing a soap. It won't be long now. Probably just a few more days. I imagine I will be onto a new soap sometime next week.

Back on the train after a day off because of work. WS-23 has been a welcomed addition to the mix. I don't know why I'm making my face cold when it's "cold" outside, but it feels right. It's 56° and I'm from deeeeeeep South Texas where that is considered cold. 🥶🤣 I can see my soap lasting another couple of weeks. I'm surprised I've lasted this long, but it has been quite enjoyable.
