I compliment myself after every shave................but have had a couple from others in our Congregation tooAlright, with all these GTB shaves going on, who has gotten compliments?
i know that Sherlock has the tendency to cause irritation, something in the scent is not sensitive skin friendly. I don’t get a reaction but both my boys doToday was a better shave than yesterday. The soap still lit me up, but it wasn't as bad today. I hope this means that it is just my face being abraded and not actually allergic to the soap.
My WAG (wild a** guess) is that it is the mandarin that is the problem child.i know that Sherlock has the tendency to cause irritation, something in the scent is not sensitive skin friendly. I don’t get a reaction but both my boys do
Sorry to hear this Doug. Also it's a shame to have to set it aside when soap is so hard to come by for you lately ??? Just kidding. Hope you have a SB scent that you can enjoy
Stubble buster is great stuff, arguably better than the original CFG stuff. No idea what is in the fragrance mix so I couldn’t say much there. I will say that there are two main culprits, cinnamon (cinamide) and vanilla (vanilan)...both are cheaper to use the natural stuff than an artificial version. Vanilla/vanilan isn’t always obvious because it Is used in combination with other stuff to mimic fragrances. A very basic rule of thumb is if a soap is normally white but turns darker with a specific scent, it may have vanilan in it.My WAG (wild a** guess) is that it is the mandarin that is the problem child.
That being said, I need to stop the Sherlock and switch to one of my Stubble Buster scents. I shaved with it this morning after two days of not shaving and it started to light me up again. The first pass was fine, but the second gave me the burn.
Well, I know that I have skin reactions to lime, so I am extrapolating from that.Stubble buster is great stuff, arguably better than the original CFG stuff. different tobaccos do use vanilla but you may be right about the citrus. Our pal Cvargo can’t do orange oil at all. Usually the vanilla content has to be higher to get you going but if you’ve got a citrus allergy it only takes a little.Well, I know that I have skin reactions to lime, so I am extrapolating from that.
The description for Sherlock is: "It is a warm tobacco based scent blended with toasted caramel, black pepper, moist dirt, and finished with a touch of leather, moss, mandarin, honey and rose."
Skin irritation from citrus is somewhat common. I guess the rose could also be a possibility, although I don't seem to have much problem with the rose Thayer's WH. I suppose if there is vanilla in the tobacco scent that would be a possibility too.
Yup I am definitely allergic to orange. But strangely some are okay. Probably the synthetic ones. Also stop putting orange slices on my beer!
