Shave #74 (458 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Parker Adjustable injector, Techtonic blade, Stirling 2-band synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Fine Platinum AS, and Fine Platinum EDT to finish!

It’s much better, at least on paper, when your Monday is on a Sunday!

Good shave this morning. The Parker shave from yesterday pleasantly lasted surprisingly long. Hopefully repeat results today!

Losing the hour of sleep is still messing wil me though.

Have a great Monday (my Tuesday) all!

Shave #75 (458 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Parker Adjustable injector, Techtonic blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Lucky Tiger AS, and Pierre Cardin clone oil to finish!

Dragged my butt out of bed this morning. 3 shifts to go until I get a couple days off...ugh. Started the coffee IV drip ASAP.

Another great shave with the Parker injector. The shaves are continuing to surprise me. Even though these Tactonic blades aren’t as sharp/smooth as Prolines and the injector head feel super mild, the BBSs are lasting almost all day!

Got my sermon for the end of the month pretty much finished last night. Just needs some fine tuning, run-thrus, and I’ll be good to go.

First Bible study meeting back on campus later this evening. 👍

Have a great Tuesday all!

Shave #76 (458 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Parker Adjustable injector, Techtonic blade, Yaqi Sagrada Familia synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, LNHC Barber Shoppe post shave elixir, and Royall Muske to finish!

Tired.

Cleanup, shave, and coffee have refreshed me some. I think it’s going to be a meh shift though.

Getting closer and closer to losing my 7-3:30 schedule as some big events (relatively) are getting approved. CA finally dropped back into Red Tier. Bittersweet.

Have a great Wednesday all!

Shave #78 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Folding Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade, RR GC .68 SB, Astra SP blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony synth brush, Meißner Strong ‘N Scottish soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, LNHC Barber Shoppe post shave elixir, and Encre Noire to finish!

Decent morning though busy. Friday dad duties getting the kids in school and such. Then it was outside for a couple hours of yardwork. Then it was more dad duties getting lunch stuff together.

A self-haircut, then it was finally time to cleanup and shave! Up on deck today finally was @Maryland998 Ken’s ninja PIF of Meißner Strong ‘N Scottish!

Off the puck (super hard puck) is a very strong scent of wood, booze, some smoke, and peat. The strength of scent on this easily rivals Tabac. I had to relay her a couple times, even after a fairly long load, that’ll need some practice to get right. Certainly had some slickness, though I didn’t achieve much thickness or height. The scent once lathered smooths and lightens quite a bit, smelling quite nice off the brush. On the face though I lost the scent fairly quickly, only getting an occasional whiff. Not sure what scotch they used, but it wasn’t too bad, only slightly synthetic smelling.

Wouldn’t be right to try the soap without an open blade present and in use, so the first 2 passes were done with the Feather SS. Passable job given the suboptimal lathering. The scent does linger a bit on the skin which is pretty nice. Finished off the shave by dabbing on some of my Encre Noire, which goes well with the earthy booziness.

More research required! Thanks again Ken!

Hope you’re all having a great Friday!

So glad you liked it Chris. I recall it was a pretty hard/dense puck when it was brand spanking new. Stronger scents usually result in faster “nose blind” effect for me. Your brains olfactory defense mechanism. When we go pick up the dead animals off the road it comes in handy. BTW I am NOT implying that Strong and Scottish reminds me of dead critters. ;)
Have a great weekend buddy.

Shave #79 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: RR GC .68 SB, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, Meißner Strong ‘N Scottish soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Lucky Tiger AS, and Creed Aventus Cologne to finish!

I’m cursed! Woke up at 7:30 this morning to no alarm and couldn’t doze back off. The curse of early morning work schedules I guess.

Good shave this morning. Round 2 for the Meißner soap. Much better lather today, though still kinda average, maybe even lacking, in comparison to other soaps. I bloomed the soap a bit and went for a long load with a damp synth. Lather worked up quickly but was still low structure and not as cushiony as an artisan soap. Slickness was pretty darn good where there was soap on the skin but residual slickness was fairly nonexistent as the soap washes clean pretty easily. I’d compare the lather overall to a melt-n-pour with some extra skin ingredients. Smell...still awesome!

My parents are on their way over for a visit. My dad made me some table top storage units for my shave gear! We’re going to visit a bit and then go out for lunch.

A few chores to do otherwise. Need to go pickup a new dresser for the missus and I. Also weighing in the pros and cons for my next computing upgrade...heavily considering an iPad/KB option or continuing on with a laptop option, probably the MacBook Air or Pro. Also have to look into upgrading phones so the two eldest kids can get hand-me-downs.

Have a great Saturday all!

Shave #80 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Bic Chrome Platinum blade, Yaqi Sagrada Familia synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, LNHC Barber Shoppe post shave elixir, and Carolina Herrera Bad Boy to finish!

Busy day yesterday, didn’t really get any me time in but it was a nice day with family.

Hello Money tonsorial my old friend...everything a decent shave soap should be...but I hate to love you. A couple (?) more shaves with this and it’ll have to be relegated to the Clown Puke tub. It’s starting to flake up pretty bad during lathering. Nothing like flinging soap chunks to some unknown region of the bathroom!

Back to the work grind today. Finished everything I needed to do for my sermon next Sunday, just need to get in a couple practice runs.

Have a blessed Sunday all!

Shave #81 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Bic Chrome Platinum blade, Stirling 2-band synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Skin Bracer AS, and Royall Vetiver to finish!

Great shave! I think tomorrow will be the last attempt to keep the soap flakes held together for a lathering...today was even worse than yesterday! 😂

Off to it.

Have a great Monday all!
