Shave #78 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:
Gear: Folding Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade, RR GC .68 SB, Astra SP blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony synth brush, Meißner Strong ‘N Scottish soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, LNHC Barber Shoppe post shave elixir, and Encre Noire to finish!
Decent morning though busy. Friday dad duties getting the kids in school and such. Then it was outside for a couple hours of yardwork. Then it was more dad duties getting lunch stuff together.
A self-haircut, then it was
finally time to cleanup and shave! Up on deck today finally was
@Maryland998 Ken’s ninja PIF of Meißner Strong ‘N Scottish!
Off the puck (super hard puck) is a very strong scent of wood, booze, some smoke, and peat. The strength of scent on this easily rivals Tabac. I had to relay her a couple times, even after a fairly long load, that’ll need some practice to get right. Certainly had some slickness, though I didn’t achieve much thickness or height. The scent once lathered smooths and lightens quite a bit, smelling quite nice off the brush. On the face though I lost the scent fairly quickly, only getting an occasional whiff. Not sure what scotch they used, but it wasn’t too bad, only slightly synthetic smelling.
Wouldn’t be right to try the soap without an open blade present and in use, so the first 2 passes were done with the Feather SS. Passable job given the suboptimal lathering. The scent does linger a bit on the skin which is pretty nice. Finished off the shave by dabbing on some of my Encre Noire, which goes well with the earthy booziness.
More research required! Thanks again Ken!
Hope you’re all having a great Friday!
