Free Shave Day:

Gear: RR Game Changer .68, Astra SP blade (4), RR Big Bruce synth, Williams soap (modern; as preshave), CB La Rose du Mechant soap, generic witch hazel, and SCS Savory Rose AS to close!

Nice shave with the Catie’s Rose today, minimal tingle. Decided to pull it out again after watching Josh’s PIF update and seeing the couple rose note soaps in there. Definitely a decent low tier 1, maybe high tier 2 soap; a bit lacking in finesse of performance, hitting marks, but not hitting high. The scent is nice though, maybe a bit like sticking your nose in a rose bouquet (sans greenery) but a bit more powerful.

I get another weekend of early closings tonight and tomorrow at work. The church is becoming quite festive as the majority of our trees and lights have been put up and detailed decoration begins today. For me that means a lot of dragging things out of storage, carting it around, and of course, cleaning up the bazillion bits of fake greenery left behind (our 15+ artificial trees are fairly old). Still, I do love this time of year!

Free Shave Day:

Huzzah, my foray into AC SEs has begun! Definitely glad I decided to start with a tamed blade!



The Ikon El Jefe (v1 I guess we’ll call it) definitely has some QC issues, but I’m fairly certain I set it correctly and none of the issues seemed to affect the shave, as far as I could discern anyway. I must say that the shave was a joy...an edgy, dangerous joy. I waffles on my angle quite a few times (riding the cap as often as I could), but the razor has a good bit of blade feel in most cases. I was hyper aware of the rigidity and thickness of the Pro blade, an unforgiving nature compared to DE blades. The blade feel was quite different though from say the Fatip OCs; it was there but it was moderately smooth as long as you held angle and didn’t feel quite as harsh actually. My care areas began to feel the wear a bit, but then I haven’t used an aggressive-type razor any time recently. Any irritation seems to have subsided quickly during my post shave routine. I might be able to get away with using something like this daily. The shave was good and my first impressions of the AC SE format are favorable. Anxious to compare it to the Hawk!

Today is my Friday! It’s going to be a rainy day looks like; we already had some minor showers come through last night. Decorating for the season should finish up today except for the most minor of details.Today’s the day that an open invitation to the congregation stands to come be a part and help finish. Going to be a busy last half of the shift as my crew rush to clean up when it finishes! Looking forward to closing time already, lol!

Free Shave Day:

Gear: Ikon El Jefe, Feather Pro blade (11), RR Big Bruce synth, JoHS Turkish Bath (Barbershop) soap, generic witch hazel, and Fine American Blend AS to close!

A bit of a switch up from my normal Sunday morning shave. I was seriously craving some Fine AB scent, so I went for the second barbershop shave in a row. I was not disappointed one bit!

Second shave with the El Jefe today. Results were much better. Still no blood loss! Still losing the angle here n there, but it’s only the ATG where it really might cause an issue, other passes still remain pretty smooth.

Normal Sunday for me. Going to try and take care of some overdue yardwork after services, relaxation later!

Finally invested in Netflix, as much for controllable programming for the kids as some new shows to watch for the missus and me.

Into the 9th season of Spooks. I’ll say the content is still good, though it’s evolved into kind of a conspiracy and backstabbing everywhere plotline. The writers certainly hold their characters with a GoT kind of loyalty, lol!
