Nice BR shave today, typical 3 passes, while listening to everyone’s videos for the day.
Super stoked at all the new faces we have here. I hope the trend continues!
I get to participate in the traditional service this Sunday, leading the congregation in some prayers and reflections. This weekend is a leadership retreat, so it’s all able hands on deck here at the campus, while planning for the year is done by the pastors and elders. I’m excited to be a part of the backup crew called upon!
Back to work today though, another weekend blown by.

Free Shave Day:
Gear: RR Game Changer .68, Permasharp Super (1), RR Big Bruce synth, Scheermonnik Delfts Wit soap, generic witch hazel, and Fine Savon Lavande AS to finish!
Shave super early in the dark-thirty, prior to the booty crack of dawn, so I just took in the GC.
Permasharp was definitely sharp and a little harsh. Hopefully that edge calms quickly.
Today was the first use of Fine Lavande. If The Veg was more like this, I’d wear it way more often! This is a strong lavender scent, but light and sweet in the way it carries. The sweetness matched the Delfts Wit decently, even if it wasn’t an entire scent match overall.
Early day at work. Should be pretty quiet and I get to close up pretty early which will be nice!

You might enjoy Master Lilac Vegetol. It is sweeter and lighter than Pinaud Lilac Vegetal.

Thanks! If I come across it, I’ll check it out. Lilac scents aren’t necessarily in my wheelhouse anyway, but this one happened to be alright!

I must say, this one from Fine is fairly nice, still getting faint whiffs here and there. Another good sign was that I got close to SWMBO a couple of times and she didn’t recoil in disgust...so...so far quite the opposite of The Veg.

Tried to video a piece of today’s shave but it just wasn’t doing things proper justice, so I’ll try again next week for my normal video.
Uber generous care package awaited my return home from work last night, as some of you already saw. It’s not often that a vendor will seek you out on their own and offer to send samples...and then include a full sized tub with it! It’s only happened twice to me, the first with Mo at Grooming Department, and now with Chris. I’m blown away!
Today I used CBL soap for the first time! What a treat! It will take a number of shaves to dial in, but I’m thinking it will be well worth it. Loads super easy, lathers quickly, can take a ton of water, Williams level slickness, great face feel, and this one has a nice, warming, slightly complex barbershop scent. If there were one thing I would nitpick it would be that I expected a bit more of a bright freshness to the scent, but that’s it. I look forward to using it more and also trying the other scents passed along!
It does pair very well with Fine AB which is what I closed the shave with today...time to order the full bottle, my sample only has a couple shaves worth left in it.
Going to be a very frantic weekend. The missus is going as part of the church staff to the planning/vision retreat to go over the last year and discuss the next. I’m still working normal shifts, but somewhere in the midst of that the kids’ transportation and care needs to be figured out. I also have my oldest singing in the choir and myself helping in service this Sunday. Should prove to be an interesting weekend! Bachelor Dad weekend!
