Open Blade Shave #215:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (10), RR Game Changer .68, Permasharp Super (3), RR Big Bruce synth, CBL Roasted Oatmeal Stout soap, generic witch hazel, and Sterling Barbershop AS to finish!

What could be better than yesterday’s CBL shave? Well, I’ll tell you...two CBL shaves, in a row!

Great, truly scrumptious shave with CBL Oatmeal Stout soap today. There is something special about this scent and soap base, all I can say is that it is just delightful. I don’t know what the 200th anniversary Guinness smelled/tasted like, but I get zero beer smell from the soap (thank goodness; yes this is a good thing for me!). Sad that this exact base is LE due to the Guinness, but happy to have a chunk of it to enjoy while it lasts. KJ nailed is when he gave the simple description of warm oatmeal cookies (perhaps as they first begin baking).

Lathering was a breeze today. Slightly wetter brush than yesterday, loaded a tad longer. Still a bit thick on the first pass, but near perfection 2nd and 3rd. This soap is right at the same level with the Barbershop base...which is, I’m going to go with the majority and say, elite once well dialed in. The slickness is simply amazing as is the face feel.

Stirling Barbershop was a solid finish to this shave at carries the same warm, baking kind of scent (also pairs well with Jeeves of Hudson Street Barbershop).

The crazy weekend is already begun, starting with the kids getting to spend an evening at work with Dad after I get them from school. Babysitting plans didn’t quite come to fruition until tomorrow, but they can hang in for an evening.

Happy Friday all! If you partake of the adult beverages tonight, take a sip for me!

Open Blade Shave #216:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (11), RR Game Changer .68, Permasharp Super (4), RR Big Bruce synth, CBL 50 Shades of Vetiver soap, generic witch hazel, and Fine Fresh Vetiver to close!

What’s better than two days of shaves with CBL soaps? Well let me enlighten you...three days of shaves with CBL soaps in a row!

Today I gave 50 Shades of Vetiver a whirl. This, I’m assuming, is his pre-official vendor status formula, perhaps the one he made in the soap making demo (which would make it MdC style I think)? I’m not sure. There is a slight difference in performance in terms of face feel and slickness, but make no mistake, 99.9% of shavers would still be happy to have this in their den! The vetiver scent is stronk out of the tub, like super stronk, like you’d better like all in vetiver if you were to receive something like this; I decided I do like it! Upon lathering it opens up and mellows a little to a very pleasant, fresh vetiver kind of scent.

Fine Fresh Vetiver paired excellently.

Good three pass shave today; a little more DFS on the upper lip than I like, but I’ll let it slide.

Got to sleep in a little this morning, but still very tired. Today is a late day at work due to an early evening wedding happening among other things. Going to drop the kids off for an overnighter at the in-law’s, the missus is still out until tomorrow afternoon, and I’m hoping I can get enough rest tonight to be awake for participation in service tomorrow. ?

Enjoy your Saturday folks!

Nice shave but what is stronk ?

Kids and their lingo these days, right? He keeps trying to tell us he’s older than we think he is, but stuff like this isn’t helping his cause.

Stronk is Dutch for stump! Lol

I guess, typos are occasional but he typed it twice so I thought I was missing something.
