If you have to do something...

Watched your video last night. I guess the oldest hasn't seen you yet and asked if you were a new guy and part of the cadre. When I told her you've been around and yes, she said "Is he the youngest one on there?". Now I wish I would have asked her how old she thought you were.

Lol, just as well I guess! ?

Osage Rub is good juice indeed, by itself, or mixed. Mixed with Pinaud Lime Sec, for example.

I think it’ll see a lot of use with my Proraso Green shaves and in my personal mixes. Love that cooling!

If he grows a mustache he will not onlylook older, he will make our video stalker happy !!!

Hah! Or maybe I’ll just look like a fool!

Open Blade Shave #188:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (2), RR Game Changer, Personna Super blade (11), RR Big Bruce synth, Cella soap, generic witch hazel, and Pinaud Vanilla AS to finish.

Nice shave to kick the day off after dropping the kids and missus where they needed to be.

Normal 3 pass split with the razors. The delectable Cella provided a very nice and yummy lather to glide my blades along. No nicks or cuts today, which is always a bonus!

Today was my first use of Pinaud Vanilla AS. I used it straight out of the decant bottle; it hasn’t been cut or mixed in any way. Definitely some alcohol in that one judging from the quick burn I felt. This one may be nice to work my cutting magic on however, keeping it otherwise pure. The in-bottle scent is wonderful, a nice muted vanilla. The application scent is different, the vanilla is still there, but there is also the usual Pinaud touch of citronella hanging in the background and the powder note comes forward quite a bit. Pinaud’s powder note walks a fine line of being a nice talc and being a plastic/synthetic note. Vanilla is a keeper though!

Back to work today, should be moderately busy. It’ll be a short week for me though (3 days), as I am headed to Tahoe for a couple of days for the annual church Men’s Retreat.

The missus is taking the oldest out for a special birthday treat (his day is later in the month). He’s been enjoying a few Christian rap artists, so his main present is to be able to go to a concert today after school. I’m sure he’ll love it!

Have a great Tuesday all!

I am sure your son will enjoy the concert. Retreat to Tahoe sounds fun!

The Clubman Vanilla is nice but not my favorite.

Thanks Chad!

I’m not sure I have a favorite Pinaud yet. I still have some others to try...SR, Virgin Island Bay Rum, Citrus Musk...hopefully I’ll sample each this week.

Open Blade Shave #189:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (3), RR Game Changer, Personna Super blade (12), RR Big Bruce synth, SS Citrus & Bay, Alum block, generic witch hazel, and Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum to finish!

I al happy to report that the PC Vanilla, after complete cool down, left a nice, muted vanilla scent nearly all day yesterday. Definitely will be keeping that one as is except a bit of witch hazel perhaps.

Today I bay rum-ed it out!

Typical 3 pass split with the razors. Had one minor nick on the side of the chin with the Feather that required Alum attention. Otherwise, I’m a very comfortable 85%+ BBS.

I almost used 2 bay rum AS today, the PC and the Superior, I may still a different time. Today however I decided to just enjoy one, so I chose PC VIBR. An excellent choice! This is honestly unlike any of the other PC AS scents I’ve tried so far, worlds apart in fact. It has none of the normal Clubman notes in it that I can detect, it is 100%, ultra clove forward, bay rum. The spice and sweetness of the notes is perfect! I don’t think I’ll be changing this one much either except to try a bay rum conglomeration with the others I have.

Should be an easy day at work today. The missus starts her first class this evening. Life moves forward!

The missus and eldest son thoroughly enjoyed the concert last night. I guess it was a pretty tiring 4 hours of standing only, but well worth it.

Happy Wednesday all!

Open Blade Shave #190:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (4), RR Game Changer, Personna Super blade (13), RR Big Bruce synth, Proraso Green soap, Alum block, generic witch hazel, and Stirling Sharp Dressed Man to finish.

OK shave today, a few follicle nicks and resulting irritation, the reduction results were very good though - 95%+ BBS.

Standard 3 passes split between the two razors, of course. Both the Feather Pro and Personna Super seem to be doing just fine. Both feel smooth and still sharp for the most part.

Green lather was just a touch light/thin today (loaded a bit too light) but still well within the realm of manageable. I was very tempted to do a “double” AS day and use Speick or Osage after my witch hazel, to match the Green, but decided ultimately not to since I hadn’t tried SDM yet.

So, obviously, today was the first use of Stirling Sharp Dressed Man. The cooldown scent is decent, I think I could grow to like it, but I don’t think at this time I would go out and buy it. Fine Platinum or AB for instance, I knew as soon as I applied it that it would be a purchase/eventual purchase, this one not so much. Thank goodness for 3rd party vendors who actually want people to know what they’re smelling, because Stirling’s descriptions did not help. I definitely get that it could be scented after something named Green Irish Tweed, though I’ve not smelled the original. It does indeed, strangely enough, smell like a tweed suit. I expected more green-ness out of it though. The forward scent on application is an ultra sharp talc-like scent but not as powdery; it was on the verge of unpleasant for me. After the cooldown, it is nicer, but still talc-something forward, hint of wood and green. Green Irish Tweed scents seem to be very popular, maybe moreso than Aventus, but if it’s anything like this, I think I’ll ultimately pass.

Last day of work for the week for me! Woohoo! Can’t complain about a 3 day work week right?

We have some workmen coming tomorrow to check our insulation for the winter. The last inspection we had noted that the fluffy stuff was not evenly distributed and overall fairly low for adequate conditions. So they’re going to fix that issue hopefully.

More good news...I learned that besides the requisite poker night, there will be a trap shoot outing on the retreat this weekend! Super stoked about that! Haven’t used my shotgun or shot trap in well over a year.

Really looking forward to it!

Have a great Thursday all!
