Time for some photos? Right you are!
We had time to explore 2 towns today before heading up into Wales.
First was the nestled away town of Blockley. Fans of the BBC show Fr Brown may recognize this as the town of “Kembleford”, home to Brown’s parish of St Mary’s.
Next was the large but still charming town of Bourton on the Water (aka the Venice of the Cotswalds). May have had one of the simplest but most delightful bite to eat here of classic English food in the trip so far - a Cornish pasty, cream tea, and a sizable biscuit with Roddy’s clotted cream and strawberry jam.
Wait a minute…is this an optical illusion? Giants of unimaginable size? No…neither. It’s one of Bourton’s notable sites…the Model village, all made in the signature Cotswold style stone! (And there’s even a model village of the model village in the model village)
The town does have a lovely built up river, the Windrush, running through it and many fun little shops of places to eat.
Tonight we stay in Wrexham area. Small city and home to the football club, by all accounts seems a decent place. Sadly, the hotel has been the first moderate let down of the trip, feeling very overpriced for what’s been recieved. Glad we’re here only one night.
