Shave #296 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Colonial “Armored” General, Feather Pro blade, Paladin Harlequin Chief 26mm brush, CBL Green Valley Links soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Pitralon Classic AS, and Guerlain Vetiver to finish!

Full morning, not necessarily busy or unwelcome, but full. Slept in just a tad. Then it was up to freshen up some and head to day 5 of Hell Week. Body was feeling better but still, the cumulative toll of 4 other intense workouts this last week with only a 1 day off break was apparent. Still, the missus and I persevered and got it done!

Out for a coffee and ham & cheese croissant after at a favorite coffee shop. Then some bargain frag shopping (which I saw some stuff but didn’t bite). Then back home for chores. The kids had a great, chill morning sans mom & dad 😂

Weather has been great all day - slightly overcast and a bit chilly. A couple last loads of laundry going while the missus took a break to go out wine tasting with a good friend. My break was frag shopping online between laundry loads…just got bit with some interest and had to scratch! Thanks Brian for a couple recommendations!

Hope you’re all having a great Saturday!

Sounds like an overall great day my friend!

Shave #297 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Colonial “Armored” General, Feather Pro blade, Yaqi Sagrada Familia synth brush, CBL Oud Minerale soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, CBL Barba AST, and C&S Frankincense & Myrrh to finish!

Foggy, chilly morning…perfect!

Get to sleep in a little bit late Sunday mornings, but it’s up and about all too soon to get ready for service.

Nice shave this morning. Bit of a mish-mosh of scents. It’s just what I felt like using though I guess lol.

Can one of you CBL fanatics remind me…is CBL Agarwood Minerale tonsorial the same profile as Oud Minerale? I forgot. If so, I think I’m going to mash them together to intensify the scent goodness.

Hope you all have a blessed Sunday and a fun, safe Halloween!

Shave #298 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Astra SS blade, Yaqi Moka synth brush, CBL Steel Grey Fougere soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, LNHC Barber Shoppe post shave elixir, and Prada Luna Rossa Ocean to finish!

Ew, Monday.

Pretty good day yesterday, all things considered. Was chill, didn’t feel like anything was rushed, the day didn’t fly by…and the kids had a great time trick-or-treating, making out like bandits with gobs of candy!

Good shave this morning. Decided to spend the week with the Prewar Tech for some nice, mild, comfortable shaves. Can’t wait to try the new frags once they get here.

Work this week could be very busy, we’ll see. Have myself double booked with my own patients and helping cover as-needed calls for our hospice center, since that chaplain is out on vacation this week.

Have a great Monday all!

Very nice shave, Chris. I'm glad you and your family had a relaxing weekend and especially glad your kids brought home plenty of Halloween booty. :)

I'm still new and trying to learn about everyone. Are you a chaplain? I'm a retired chemical engineer and devote my time to caring for my bride, volunteering in the ICU at the local children's hospital (love, love, love it) , and traveling. COVID has temporarily put the skids on some of our activities, but we're slowly getting back to normal.

I was doing some catch-up in the watch nut thread, and I noticed you've been peering down that rabbit hole. PM me anytime if you're serious about getting a Speedmaster. I've purchased a couple of Omegas over the years, and I've learned a few things that might help you. "I have a guy," and I'd be happy to hook you up with him. I think you'd be very pleased. :)

Have a great week, my friend.

Boom! Blasting outta the gate on a Monday!

I miss the Feather SS...

Thanks Charlie! Yes, I’m a chaplain for a hospice group in Santa Barbara, CA. Good on you for doing some volunteer work! There’s lots of need and few hands!

Oh gosh, I’d love to get my hands on a Speedmaster, Tag Heuer or some such…but I don’t foresee that happening any time soon unfortunately. The wallet size just isn’t big enough to back up a purchase like that, if you know what I mean lol.

I really do appreciate the offer though…I’ll keep dreaming that it might happen one day!

Funny you should say so! With all the take of the Essence and such, it did have me jonesing for a SS shave…I just plum forgot to pull it out when it came time for the weekend shaves. It’s on my brain though!

Great shave Chris. Being a Chaplain in a hospice setting has to be hard duty. Thanks for all you do. A Chaplain during boot camp at Ft Benning in the summer of 1983 really made a difference in my life. I pass along his nuggets of wisdom to my girls even today.

Thanks Clint! It’s good to hear those stories of ministry done well 👍

Shave #299 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Astra SS blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony synth brush, Proraso Red soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Proraso Red AS, and PR Phantom to finish!

Great shave this morning with the Tech. It was one of my first razors and I truly could be happy only using it for the rest of my life if I had too. It’s still a prime example of the balance of mild comfort with just enough efficiency. Yes, the Proraso Red is still hanging in there, seemingly dwindling ever closer to its demise yet ever stretching that doomsday date just one more day further out.

Have a great Tuesday all!
