Shave #300 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Astra SS blade, Stirling 2-band synth brush, CBL Steel Grey Fougere soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Speick AS, and Azzaro Pour Homme to finish!

Wednesday! Almost half way there!

Good shave this morning. Played with some pretty smooth, unassuming scents so that the frag could be the star. First use of Azzaro PH…not what I expected! To me the opening is a blast of creamy barbershop for like a second, then it gets enveloped by the overwhelming scent of pencil shavings…after a couple minutes that starts to die down into a spicy bergamot with some other notes. Just now starting to dry down to more of the base notes after 10 minutes or so. Excited to see where it lands!

Have a great Wednesday all!

I've yet to try Azzaro myself, but that description tells me, maybe I don't need to! Not that it sounds bad, but I started my collection with a love for pencil shaving scents, so am good in that dept.

It's a blast seeing folks trying some of these classics, and other off beat stuff.

I'm always afraid of the cheepies, but I did pull the trigger on a bottle of Ted Lapidus, rumors of more reformulation happening next year pushed me over.

It’s better than sniffing glue 😀

Thanks gents!

It’s morphed yet again! It’s brought back some of that rich barbershop/Barbasol scent that I got a second’s whiff of at the start! I can see where some folks say it has hints of Rive Gauche in it! It’s a bit on the darker side of that, but still a breeze of creamy freshness punches through occasionally. I’m likin it! More testing required!

Shave #301 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Astra SS blade, TH Taurus A synth brush, CBL Steel Grey Fougere soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, LNHC Barber Shoppe post shave elixir, and Versace Pour Homme to finish!

One step closer to the weekend!

Pretty good shave today! Again, used mostly neutral scents to give the frag an opportunity to shine. Today was the first use of Versace Pour Homme! It’s a “light blue” frag in appearance and in scent profile. The initial blast of spray is a bit perfumey…but not feminine-perfumey like CK BE was. Getting a fair amount of florals and some power right now. It’s pretty well blended so that I can’t pick out too many notes individually. There’s definitely some lemon/citrus, a touch of bergamot, and a an underlying geranium with some other florals. Still some way to go before reaching the full dry down. Definitely an easy, breezy, wear for any time. Not too bad so far!

Hope you all have a great Thursday!

Shave #302 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Astra SS blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony synth brush, Proraso Red soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Proraso Red AS, and vintage Guess for Men to finish!

A bit tired today. So thankful it’s Friday!

Worked down the Proraso Red a bit more for today’s shave. Ever closer to being relegated to the Clown Puke tub. Wanted to pull out vintage Guess this morning. It doesn’t see nearly enough action. Though formulated in the early 90s I think, I get a really solid 70s vibe from it. It’s strong juice, dark, powdery, and manly. Almost reminiscent of Clubman SR! It’s not bad but do to the lack of use, it might be better served in someone’s den who will get good use out of it. Time to look for a trade!

Busy day of visitations ahead. Looking forward to some rest tomorrow, hopefully.

Have a great Friday all…nearly there!
