If you have to do something...

Yep, good times ahead!

Sweet! Paul does have some really nice wooden handles too, the striped birch being one!
His resin work is very nice also. I recently caught an IG live video of him turning a handle … good stuff.

I would have had the Birch in rotation sooner, but my work hours were beating me down and I didn’t get a chance to go buy silicone. All resolved now and will be well cured for tomorrow’s shave.

Shave #241 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Colonial “Armored” General, Feather Pro blade, Yaqi Moka synth brush, SV 70th soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, SV 70th AS, and Guerlain Vetiver to finish!

A little sleep-in but still up at a reasonable hour to get ready for church.

It’s an interesting phenomenon, as a recently moved-in Santa Barbrian, that during holidays a good chuck of the locals travel out of SB while some more touristy folk come in. Our current feeling is pretty much why would you leave when you live at a vacationing location? Lol. Just funny.

Another great shave. Today’s focus was the long wanted, long awaited Yaqi Moka. It did not disappoint! Probably most similar to the pony knot (which I guess is my gold standard for knots) the only real difference I’d say is the shorter fiber length; it otherwise displays, as far as I can tell, all other shave characteristics. Great piece to add to the stable!

After church, we’re off to the beach for a picnic lunch and some water action.

Have a blessed Sunday all!

Enjoy your day my friend! Hang 10 at the beach (if you tried to surf at church - that may be awkward)

Shave #242 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Colonial “Armored” General, Feather Pro blade, TH Taurus A synth brush, CBL Oud Minerale soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Barbasol Pacific Rush AS, and TF Oud Minerale to finish!

Inspired by @NurseDave on this fine holiday morning…it was time for some Oud Minerale lovin!

Great shave all around. CBL’s Oud Minerale in the original artisan base captures the dry drift-woody richness of the frag really well. Another use or two of my frag sample and it’ll go the way of the dodo. Sad that this glorious scent has been discontinued. Hopefully I can find some on sale.

Had a great sleep-in. About to head out to coffee with the missus. My spend some more time enjoying the beach with friends. The kids wanted to just veg at home, so for today that’s fine I guess.

Hope you all are having a great holiday off! To those still working, been there, know you’re pain…thanks for keeping America running!

Shave #243 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Schick M Adjustable injector, Schick Twin blade, Yaqi Moka synth brush, CBL Sir Fougere soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Pitralon Classic AS, and woody EOs to finish!

It’s been a good weekend with a decent amount of family time and beach time. Back to the grind though!

Lots going on this week as I cover for a fellow chaplain on visits and in IDT meetings. Gonna have to hit the ground running!

Have a great Monday all!

Shave #244 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Schick M Adjustable injector, Schick Twin blade, Bug Bruce synth brush, Proraso Red soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Proraso Red AS, and ADG Absolu Instinct to finish!

Pretty decent first day back at work yesterday, after the long weekend. Caught up on pretty much everything which is nice.

Good shave this morning. Still a good chunk of Proraso Red hanging on, it’s getting harder to lather. Seems like this last chunk is super condensed and dries easily, so it takes some wetting to load well. ADG Absolu Instinct is a great frag/scent. I’d probably buy it if it were half the price…maybe one Black Friday sale at some point in the future 😂 Really though, I do like it.

Have a great Wednesday all (aka the Tuesday that could have been)! 😂

Shave #245 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Schick M Adjustable injector, Schick Twin blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony synth brush, CBL Green Valley Links soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, CBL Barba AST, and Penhaligon’s Sartorial clone oil to finish!

Great shave to kick off the day!

Hoooooo got a little inflow of new patients at work yesterday. Going to be a busy day today and tomorrow for sure!

Hope y’all have a great Thursday…almost there!
