If you have to do something...

Have a super day! Just think the smoke detector is giving you some extra time to appreciate a wonderful day 😀
I’d have preferred to appreciate the backside of my eyelids a bit longer!
With all that extra time on your hands, I bet you packed the kids an extra special lunch box today.
Oh yes…a whole lot of nothing! Nah, thankfully we’ve got the kids in a routine to prepare their school stuff the night before, snacks included. They mostly eat school lunches anyway (more variety than PB&J or ham&cheese I guess…kidz 🙄)

2 more days of solo-dadding to get through. Today and most of tomorrow!

Irksome thing happened yesterday. My youngest tells me at bed time that he got a tardy slip for missing school announcements and roll call. Well, he was the second drop off yesterday morning and we were on time, except that the drop off line was out into the street and slooooow. I don’t know about how your kids’ schools are situated, I guess some of it depends on how old the school is. But the parking lot is minuscule and along a major roadway (it’s a block from the 101 on ramps). How ridiculous is that? It’s not like he was late on purpose and I have no control over their super slow drop off protocol (which is monitored and every kid is checked in). Their blanket response is to simply get there earlier (never mind the fact that they can only be dropped off 30 minutes before school starts at the earliest - not like there isn’t a line then too). I told him if he keeps getting in trouble for it, to have the staff talk to me. Dumb!

Enough of that though! Game on for today!

Have a great Tuesday all!

Great shave as always!

Honestly, I think schools have gotten a little too big for their britches. It's ridiculous how they approach certain situations that should be common sense. But alas...

Talk about about a Catch 22! That's insanity!

I understand the need to be consistent in terms of declaring tardiness, but feels like there should be some adjustment to the policy with the rigor of the school check-in process changes as a result of Covid. When there's only so much parents can do in terms of "getting there earlier...but not too early" it isn't fair to then turn around and penalize. Can guarantee the teachers wouldn't want to be told to get there another 30 minutes earlier to account for extended check in times...

Yea, it’s definitely some weirdness.

Right? I’m not railing against the teachers mind you. They’ve gone through quite a bit in many respects…just the system. There could definitely be some tweaks to set people up for success a bit better.

Seem like many places these days are forgetting "they" work for us, and are funded by our taxes. Interesting how the always seem to have amnesia when responding or setting rules, sorry the hear Chris

Thanks Dave!

I know it’s just a tardy slip…one of those things that slowly builds up to the child getting “in trouble” but there’s just so many other more important things to worry about. 🤷‍♂️

I know it’s just a tardy slip
You’re right Chris, it’s just a tardy slip….but that’s not the point. They’re not doing anything to help you solve the problem, just putting in place restrictions that are setting you (and probably a lot of other parents) to fail.

I also agree with your statement that it’s not the teachers, it’s the system…but the teacher that issued the tardy slip should have an idea of how bad the drop off situation is. They could’ve cut the kid some slack considering and just looked the other way.

Shave #230 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Schick M Adjustable injector, Twin blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony synth brush, CBL Steel Grey Fougere soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Skin Bracer AS, and Penhaligon’s Sartorial clone oil to finish!

Last day of solo-dadding! Missus should get home late tonight. 👍

Until then…up a bit early to get the kids off to school a bit earlier…so no one is “late” 🙄.

Thankfully this week at work has been much less hectic than last (*knock on wood*) because I was able to schedule most of my visits last week and no new patients have rolled in for me yet. It’s allowed me quite a bit of flexibility to get stuff done.

Great shave this morning. The Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony knot (and Graydog Art Deco since it basically has the same knot) continues to be the #1 brush in my den. Softest, feels the best, loads the best, lathers the easiest, and hasn’t failed during a shave yet. Not sure what it is about the knot, but it’s a grand slam every time!

Have a great Wednesday all! Half way there!

Shave #231 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Schick M Adjustable injector, Twin blade, Stirling 2-band synth brush, CBL Grassroots Lavender soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Myrsol Agua De Limon AS, and Hugo Boss to finish!

The missus is back, safe n sound. Peace is restored to the galaxy! ✌️

Good shave this morning. Really wish Schick (or whoever their owned by now) would bring back the Twin Blade for injectors (or some other company would just step up into the gap). The Stirling synth is another brush, like the Yaqis, that just doesn’t fail.

Have a great Thursday all…almost there!
