If you have to do something...

It's good that you saved the essentials, but that is still pretty lousy. Though tonight's dinner sounds fantastic.

Whirlwind day yesterday between work, trying to schedule a refrig repair, single dad duties, and beginning the negotiation process with the organization I’d be becoming a Chaplain for. Yes friends, I did get a job offer early evening yesterday! I’m only asking for a specific few things in the process, for some extra peace of mind. Hoping they can work with me and that by the day today, I’ll have accepted an arrangement.

Good cleanup and shave this morning.

The razor previously known as the Brass General, now the Nickel Plated Brass General, finally made it back to the den. Chris did a really nice job overall. First shave will be Thursday morning I believe.

Refrig repair person gets here early evening hopefully. Missus gets back into town late this morning. Happy about that for sure 👍

Have a great Tuesday all!

No return word on my negotiations. Hopefully today! The missus and I have pretty much decided that even if they say no to everything and keep the initial offer on the table, it’s still a go.

A bit better sleep now that the missus is safely back. Her trip was half successful, passing one challenge test and unfortunately not the second. It was worth the shot though.

Good, simple shave this morning. No frills, no fuss.

Refrigerator repair dude comes back today with the necessary parts. $350 bucks ain’t too bad I guess.

It’s been a weird last 5 days. Hoping that the rest of the week returns to some normalcy.

Have a good Wednesday all!

Hoping they're reasonable in their counter-offer Chris! Glad to hear you and the wife have made the decision regardless, it's an exciting one!
Thanks Ryan!

The counter offer came back this afternoon. They bumped things up a little bit which was nice. So it’s official now. Just waiting to hear on the start date but likely we’ll be totally moved by mid to end of July. 🤙

If this is the same Chris I'm thinking of (he's widely popular on another forum), his work is exceptional, but the turnaround time is weeks, even months. I've used two other re-platers that are equal in quality, but with turnaround times measured in days, not months.

Congratulations on the new job!

Fantastic news Chris! Relo is never easy so hopefully the company is helping out with those aspects as well!
I was crossing my fingers but unfortunately that was not offered, even when I broached the subject. It’s OK though. I am counting it as my part of the investment into the future of my ministry experience.

He did a pretty nice job! It’s got the looks where it really counts. There might only be a couple spots that could have used a touch of extra work...but for the money, added ease of maintenance, and the fact that it only took about a week and a half total (me shipping it off to it coming back to my door) I’ll take it!

Was this Back Roads Gold? They are great!

Chris and I were talking about *Chris* at BRG, not RazorPlate (which is the one I assume you're referencing above.) RP does great work but that turnaround time is kind of ridiculous.

BRG is one I can confidently recommend. He took a Fat Boy that had been replated by RP, but returned to me in worse shape. There were plating flaws, and the quarter-turn locking mechanism no longer worked, though it had when shipped off. I was so frustrated with the literal 5 month wait, that I never sent it back for repair. BRG touched up the plating flaws, cleaned it internally, and fixed the locking mechanism. Turnaround was less than 2 weeks, and cost me less than $25.

Shave #141 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Colonial Brass General in nickel, Schick Proline blade, SV/TSC Il Re Tasso d’Oro brush, SV 70th soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, SV 70th AS, and Guerlain Vetiver to finish!

I ended up having today off, so I got to wake up a little later, before the alarm went off. That was nice!

Got the kids up and in their school Zooms.

Finally got to put the nickel Brass General to the test! I need a name for it though, Colonial Brass General in nickel is a text-based mouthful...the Bickel General? The Nass General? The Decorated General? I don’t know. Anyway...still a superb shaver! If anything, the shave is closer than ever to a Tech, with more efficiency. The nickel upped the glide over the naked brass. Still feels great in the hand and not too slippery. I could probably use this daily!

Our move-oriented machine is now fired up and leaving the station for its Santa Barbara destination. We’ve contacted our realtor, told our bosses, and are setting weekly goals to get ourselves and the house ready. I hate moving in general...a lot...but hoping the process this time around goes smoothly. We’re definitely looking into a moving company to handle the loading, haul, and unloading to wherever our new home will be.

I’m not teaching the Thursday morning seniors Bible study today, but I am going to drop in and have a listen.

Have a great Thursday all!

+1 vote for General Bickel!

Moving is a pain, but sounds like you guys are all over it and that you're excited for the next chapter - that's the most important part!
