If you have to do something...

I'm right there with ya, brother!!

Hah! It certainly helped!
I once painted a large, wooden-shingled garage. The shingles were so dry they soaked up a couple coats of paint before it looked finished. I vowed then and there that I'd never paint wooden shingles again!
Thankfully none of those here! Just a whole bunch of pockmarked red brick. The only reason I have to paint it is because someone before my time decided it would be a good idea...🙄
It's much faster and easier if you follow the Jackson Pollock approach to painting.
Yes and yes...probably a lot more fun too! 😂
Well, that'll put hair on your chest! So to speak...
I’ll take what I can get 😂
Wait. Parker makes injectors? How the heck have I missed that?
Indeed! Quite a good deal too if you like mild razors.
We're supposed to get holidays off? I think I missed that. My next holiday is Mardi Gras, Feb 16th. And yup...it's a state holiday.
I need to move I guess... 😂

Going back through my 12 Whiskeys of Christmas sampler in reverse order. First time through was neat, this time I’m adding a a few drops of water. Not changing my rankings though.

Tonight 1/3 of #5: Sazerac Straight Rye Whiskey

Not much change from what I remember on the nose. Maybe a bit brighter with some more noticeable “alcohol” smell around the edges of the citrus. The anise note is strung out a bit so it smells almost like ink.

Taste-wise, I think the water took a passable whiskey and put it just over the wrong side of cheap tasting. Most of the flavors are too brief or washed out. There’s some citrus, spice, and char (rye?) that are just detectable. Mostly it’s a sharp and unrefined alcohol taste, like a very young whiskey would have. Water is definitely a no-no for this.

Tacking in my final rankings list from the initial tastings to add notes about whether I preferred them neat, with water, or over ice. Woody/ashy/dryness on the aftertaste. The nice, rich, distinct levels of flavor from the neat tasting are totally gone. I think the neat tasting was far more interesting and worthwhile.

One day down...4 more to go!

Pretty darn good shave today. I’ve entered the extended donut phase of the Money tonsorial, sighting of the tub bottom is confirmed. Roger roger.

Bible study group later this evening. That’s about it.

Let’s go do this thing!

Have a good Tuesday all!

The dry, smooth smelling malt is amped up only slightly. Hints of citrus on the top. A very faint, high alcohol note. The light, buttery note dominates the rest but is not at all offensive.

Still very scotchy up front with that firey kick. Quick punch of light peat. That spicy char backs it up pretty quickly. The flavors are brief and fierce, dying down quickly. Not bad but probably not as good as it could be. Probably a whiskey blend best kept neat.

Shave #27 (453 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Henson AL (Medium), Feather blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Fine Platinum AS, and Fine Platinum EDT to finish!

It’s Wednesday! Nearly half way there!

Toss n turn night as the first bout of the storm really hit around 9/10 PM and went almost all night. High winds (for us) and horizontal rain. Didn’t really break until about 30 minutes ago. Still, should carry on in some for or another the next couple days. No damage done thankfully. It’s great we’re getting rain though!

Great shave this morning bringing it back to the Henson. Decided to bring out the Fine Platinum to top things off. Phew that original formula AS menthol is powerful!

Have a great Wednesday all; be safe out there!

Glad to hear it. When I was first in the Bay Area, we were in the beginnings of a three year drought. A couple years later, I was walking back to my ship one afternoon, I felt a big wet splash on top of my ballcap. Thinking it was a seagull targeting me, I silently was thankful my head was covered. Taking the cap off to examine the damage, I felt another one splat on my head. Cursing, I looked up, only to witness water falling from the sky. It seemed so strange to me.

Thanks gents...may be a short day. Lots of trees down and power out around town, including the church campus, which pretty much kills the day to day activities. We’ll see!

So what I'm hearing is if you like a whisky, you like it neat. If you don't like you it want to dilute it to taste it less ;)

Yep, back home already. Power was still out on campus with no inkling from the power company when it would be back up. I’m sure they’re on full alert and all hands on deck as, on the drive to work and back, there were a number of downed trees and areas that looked to be out of power.

So all activities for the day were canceled. Helped my boss cut and pile up some monstrous “widow maker” redwood limbs that had fallen overnight, checked over the rest of the campus, and headed out home.

Spent about an hour in the backyard and street clearing some debris, clearing the closest storm drain, and cleaning things up a bit.

What?! You had to go home and work too?
