Shave #360 (452 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Feather blade, Yaqi Sagrada Familia synth brush, Clown Puke tub soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe blend, Speick AS, and Tom Ford Oud Wood to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 286:

Great day-after Christmas shave! Tech made things easy peazy for a bleary eyed wake up.

Stayed up too late, coulda slept in longer...darn parenting! Great holiday though! The kids got 3 Christmases, there was food and treats galore, board/card games, and plenty of laughter all day long.

Besides my awesome Rudolph gift (pics will come later, once I’m home - Henson razor, PDP 63 shower soap, and 12 days of Whiskey sampler) I also got my Ramen t-shirt, the TF Oud Wood EDP, a CCW belt and holster, a Gerber pocket tool, and a fun dice game for the fam called Dungeon Roll. I’m blessed! Take that 2020!

Headed back home later today. Got to get settled in for the New Year week, get a couple house things done, and I’ve got to work the next few days.

Have a great Saturday all!

What holster did you get? Enquiring minds want to know.
I was limited to an Amazon wish list so I think I picked something like this:
Barsony New Brown Leather Tuckable IWB Holster for Compact Sub-Compact 9mm 40 45 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WWJH6HL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_ah55Fb6SKYA7Y

For the belt, it was:
Kmioc Concealed Carry CCW Leather Gun Belt 1 1/2 inch 100% Full Grain Thick Leather Belt for Gun Carry Amazon.com : Kmioc Concealed Carry CCW Leather Gun Belt 1 1/2 inch 100% Full Grain Thick Leather Belt for Gun Carry : Clothing

Those look to be up to the task. Takes getting a little getting used to. Cooler months and jackets are easiest times to conceal. Summer requires some thought as to clothes choices. Have fun and practice your presentation and sighting safely and preferably alone. People tend to poke fun. Save yourself the distraction. Just like stropping. Start slow build muscle memory.
If you really want to get your post count up. Post up some quick draw vids.

Glad to hear! Still have a ways to wait until I can get the CCW license ($300 plus a class; maybe this next year?)...but at least I’ll be ready with gear at when it does happen. Still need to buy up some more ammo and get some time in at the range.

Shave #361 (452 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: RR GC .68 SB, Bic Chrome Platinum blade, RR 400 synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe blend, Skin Bracer AS, and Guerlain Vetiver to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 287:

Up n ready for work!

Got home safe n sound last night at a decent hour. Just early enough to get reasonably settled in and then head off to bed.

Great shave this morning. Considered using the Henson but I want to do my first shave on video! So, fortunately or unfortunately, that’ll probably be Wednesday.

Chores to catch up on later after work. Should be a chill week besides a couple days at work. Speaking of work, received a nice and unexpected bonus...which has never happened before! Very blessed for that.

Have a blessed Sunday all!

Shave #362 (452 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: RR GC .68 SB, Bic Chrome Platinum blade, RR 400 synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe blend, Old Spice AS, and Pierre Cardin clone oil to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 288:

Le yawn.

Nice shave this morning...a little glazed over in the eyes. Probably should have tried to get to sleep a bit earlier. 😂🤷‍♂️

Brought out the OS. Modern unfortunately...but still good. There was so much talk about it, how could I not? The Pierre Cardin clone oil seems to jive with it well enough too!

Enjoying a cup of coffee and a scoop of cinnamon roll bake before heading off to work in a few. Having a sprinkling of rain right now, which is great, though it’s supposed to let up in a couple hours. The end of the year marches ever closer!

Have a great Monday all! If you’re still on vacation, hit the snooze button for me once!

12 Whiskeys of Christmas Entry 1:

Couldn’t wait any longer! Had to dig in to the whiskey samples Dave @NurseDave sent along (read along if you like Dave, I’ll tag you when I post them).

Tonight is 1/3 of bottle #1 - Naked Grouse Blended Malt.

Fair warning...I don’t have a discerning palate for whiskey. I can’t taste differences sometimes but couldn’t say much for individual notes or whatnot. If I read a maker’s notes I could probably put a name to some of what I taste, otherwise I’m lost and it either is good, bearable, or not my cup o tea. A lot of what I taste is also highly dependent on what I’ve eaten (or not) beforehand - some foods really bring out a whiskey’s sharpness and fire...others help make the tastes mellow, smoother, and, I suspect, more true to the real taste? I don’t know. Maybe this will change a bit at the end of this process?

Tonight’s sample is going to be taken neat. Tonight, before the taste, I had a dinner of Turkey Wild Rice Casserole (a savory dish).

First, a few sniffs after the dram is poured. One note is for sure noticeable above the general scotch/whiskey scent - sherry! Sure enough this blend was aged in sherry casks! The rest of the notes? If I read long, I can pick out what I think are the scent’s butteriness and the taste’s raspberry, oak, and light smoke...though there’s apparently much more to it.

It’s a bit of apples to oranges to compare this malt blend to a regular scotch...so the only blended malt I’ve had this far is Monkey Shoulder. Between the two, first impressions...this is a far more mellow and smoother sipper up front, with a little bit of a firey kick at the swallow. Very nice when neat. I’d go so far as to say Monkey Shoulder is more of a rough sip in general, that gives moderate fire to the tastebuds.

NG may well be a tastier though ever so slightly more expensive (looks to be a few dollar difference) buy.

Blended Malt Scotch Rankings:

1) Naked Grouse
2) Monkey Shoulder

Shave #363 (452 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: RR GC .68 SB, Bic Chrome Platinum blade, RR 400 synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe blend, Myrsol K AS, and Carolina Herrera Bad Boy to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 289:

Up early again. Headed out to work in a min.

Great shower n shave this morning. Same ol stuff as the last couple days except for switching up the AS and frag. Don’t wanna get too fancy for custodial work...might set a precedent. 😂 Should be able to shave with the Henson on video tomorrow...really looking forward to it. May have a Purchase lined up for a slightly used Parker injector too, come the New Year.

Going to try and go to the drive-in this evening with the family to see the new Wonder Woman...we’ll see!

Get er dun boys!

Have a great Tuesday all!

Good stuff Chris! I’ve got a I’ve got a bottle of Naked Grouse and I’ve been enjoying it. I’m in a similar boat not being able to pick out tasting notes. Also looking forward to your thoughts in the Henson.

Lead by example! You’ll be the best smelling crew around!
We may already be! I almost never get whiffs of cologne at all when around any of the other dudes, whether my crew or other staff. It’s weird.

Yep! They opened back up about mid summer I think, once the first stay at home order was lifted and haven’t closed back down since.

Nice John! I definitely liked the sherry scent and smoothness.

Have you tried a Henson already?
