Shave #251 (434 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: RR GC .68, Astra SP blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ brown synth brush, LNHC Barber Shoppe soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, LNHC Barber Shoppe post shave elixir, and Penhaligon’s Sartorial clone oil to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 176:

Glad to have today off. I slept in and slept like the dead 💀

Only some lawn watering to finish up today. Otherwise it’ll just be a family day.

Great shower n shave this morning. The GC .68 did it all. Great lather with the Barber Shoppe to oil the shave machine. BBS with almost no irritation and I’m smelling new school barbershop fantastic!

Now this is a Monday I can get behind! Hope you all have a great one!

Shave #252 (434 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: RR GC .68, Astra SP blade, Yaqi Sagrada Familia synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Speick AS, and Boucheron Jaipur Homme to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 177:

Where’s that cup o coffee...🥱

Definitely thankful that I can look forward to a nice shave each morning. Decided I wanted to use some more of my Jaipur Homme sample today, so I kitted accordingly. Pretty good shave overall...just a little bit of roughness from the blade perhaps. Nothing my homemade witch hazel and some Speick couldn’t handle!

Let’s see what this week holds, shall we?

Have a great Tuesday all!

Shave #253 (434 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: RR GC .68, Gillette Platinum blade, Stirling 2-band synth brush, Stirling Agar soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, and Avon Tai Winds to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 178:

Not working today...but I am helping with school, so I still had to be up at a decent hour. Got the kids going on their classes and then it was time to knock the eye bags and whiskers off my face!

Almost went for a Hipster shave but then my brain kicked in the idea that “Hipster...Stirling...other Stirling?...Agar!” So Agar got the call. De rides to follow up with some Avon while I was at it and I felt Tai Winds fit the bill nicely. Brand new Gillette Platinum blade in the GC and it was a decent 3 passes. A little rough on the corners of the mouth though...the Platinum isn’t the sharpest blade but at least it’s moderately smooth.

Weather is going to be warm today, in the 90s. It’s the air quality that’s the problem. Last night was really bad, after the winds had settled. Between the small fire that popped up to the northwest and everything carried in by the winds, it was just plain ugly. Still ugly today. A light dusting of ash all over and the sky is diarrhea brown/gray. Definitely staying indoors as much as possible.

Hope you all are having a great Wednesday!

Shave #254 (434 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: RR GC .68, Gillette Platinum blade, Paladin Harlequin Chief 26mm brush, CBL Grassroots Lavender soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Lucky Tiger AS, and Perry Ellis Oud Saffron Rose Absolute to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 179:

Air quality is finally getting to me some...mostly in the form of sapping energy and fitful sleep.

Nice shower n shave this morning to refresh myself a bit. It seems like it’s one of the few things I have to look forward to lately. No motivation to pull out the Feather, so it’s just been SEs/injectors and DEs. Continued with the GC today. The Platinum smoothed out a bit more. This Saffron Rose is a fantastic scent, the saffron really plays well under the rose and it doesn’t come off as too feminine at all.

Have to go in to work for a couple hours tomorrow. We’re going to 2 services starting this Sunday, requiring that things be finished an hour earlier than previous, so we’re going to try setting up some of the larger stage pieces, securing them, and leaving them set up throughout the week. Next week youth group pods or cohorts are also beginning to meet outside on campus grounds, a huge step.

Have a great Thursday all!

Shave #255 (434 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: Gillette Tech, Gillette Platinum blade, Stirling 2-band synth brush, Stirling Hipster soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, and Stirling Hipster AS to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 180:

Today marks 19 years post 9/11/01. Crazy how time has flown by and how things have changed! Always remember, never forget.

Have to go in to work for a little bit soon. Definitely not before I got my shave on though! I put my regular Tech up to bat (I’ve never actually used it, or any regular Tech for that matter, it was out on lone for a long time). I was pleasantly reminded how happy I would have been had I simply stuck with the Prewar I bought so many years ago when starting this hobby. Having only ever experienced Prewar before, this regular Tech isn’t all that different. A touch more mild and noticeably less weight. The exact origins of this model escape me, but from Mr Razor estimations, it seems to be an aluminum Tech from the 60s/70s, likely of Spanish origin. The head looks like the “Red Cross” gift Tech, but the handle detail matches later Tech hatching marks out of England. Anyway, a truly mild yet superb shave!

Air quality and sky clarity is still the pits. At least most of the poo brown is gone. It’s just gray now.

Have a great Friday all...ya made it!
