Glad the little one is on the mend!

That boat looks dubious…one sizable wave over that entry way and it’s game over 😂
Thankfully cruising up and down the Chicago River doesn't pose much of a threat because I'd agree, wouldn't take much to sink that boat!!

Unfortunately I fully caught my son's head cold - ugh, darn kids! He is basically recovered but I'm still very much in the throws of a draining nose and sore throat. Thankfully my wife appears to have dodged it, might be something to that thought that pregnant women have heightened immune responses to keep themselves healthy.

The weekend was nice, spent Saturday at my in-laws and while my lawn much appreciated the needed rain, it meant no swimming for our son. Ah well, plenty of opportunities the rest of the summer. Yesterday I pulled the pressure washer out of winter storage for the first time to clean off the front and back decks as we're hosting some friends this coming weekend for the 4th. As a delayed birthday treat, last night my wife made a recreation of the old chocolate chip paradise pie that used to be offered at Chili's. Talk about decadent and delicious! During lunch today I went and refilled the propane tank for the grill and looking forward to the holiday weekend despite it only being Monday. Have a feeling this week is going to go slow.

On the shave front, I've really settled into a groove with my Schick Krona and Summer Break Rope Swing. Starting to feel like a 3017 effort...

Thanks for reading!

Happy Hump Day, friends! Late afternoon entry for me today but always good to get a quick break during the work day to check in. Found myself in a shave-every-other-day trend recently, need to get myself back in line both there and in the exercise regiment.

I've also been listening to various Disney World "background music" loops while working recently - Epcot and Magic Kingdom in particular. Looking forward to the days where we can bring our son and daughter for a trip down there. It's a place both my wife and I truly love. Probably going to be a few years away still, both from a financial POV as well as ages of the kiddos.

Thanks for stopping in, half way to the weekend!

Hello shaving friends, hope everyone had a nice long weekend.

Ours around here was marked with tragedy - as I'm sure many of you saw, there was another mass shooting, this time at a 4th of July parade in the northern suburbs of Chicagoland. This is not too far from where I grew up and I still have many friends and colleagues from work who lived in and around Highland Park. Thankfully don't know any of the 6 victims personally, but really shook me and I'm sure many other up. It's hard for me to understand how our country has turned into a place where I need to be on alert at all times - even before the shooting yesterday, while we were standing watching the fireworks on Sunday night I had thoughts about where I'd have my wife and son run if something were to happen. Having to actively think through scenarios like that while in large groups of families enjoying what should be a wonderful celebration of our country is not okay. This is not the forum for political opinions as we all have our own, so I'll leave it at that.

We had our 32 week ultrasound this morning, and everything is still checking out great for our little girl. Hard to believe we're only 7 weeks out from the C-Section date, it's going to be here before we know it.

They've been showing up at Burlington with spotty availability across the Icon line for a little while now. I'm on the look out for Vintage Green still.
Thanks. I noticed you mentioned Burlington in an earlier post. I found it when I went into the city. Nearest one is an hour away. I bought it, but it's not as good as I expected. Pretty cloying. Need to wait until fall to try it again. Definitely can't wear it in this heat.

Summer heat is definitely not the time for this one. Think it'll be a nice match with autumn shave soaps.

I’m relieved that while you were close to the tragedy - that you and your family were safe! I can’t imagine and I just don’t have the words.

So exciting and that will bring a smile to anyone’s face - I wish nothing but health and happiness for your new family member - just around the corner!

Thank you Brian - seeing her face and watching her yawn in that wild 4D view they can create now was a much needed boost after yesterday.

When my ex was pregnant with my kids - that tech was just coming out and most insurances didn’t cover it - so a lot of the times the techs would switch over “just to calibrate the equipment” - quite amazing - and I can’t imagine how much the tech has improved in those over two decades!

Since our son came 5 weeks early, they're having my wife go to some additional ultrasounds just to monitor at a "Level 2" location, which is where they switch it over from normal 2D to that 3D (not sure why they call it 4D...)

I think it's still not covered by most, we didn't see them the first time around!

Late post today as I'm at the office and it's been a busy day. There's been some shuffling of roles leaving one open that would be a promotion here, so going to talk with that hiring manager and see what it would entail. I took a lateral move 10 months ago so while I haven't been in this role that long, would be nice to get a promotion opportunity. Guess we'll see what happens.

Other than that, the heat broke last night so it's much more tolerable outside. Makes the walk to and from the train much more enjoyable too.

Happy Hump Day friends, thanks for stopping by.
