For the Love of Old Spice - Illini's Shave Journal

Just when I was all excited about 2 days in the office, 3 days WFH, our new senior director announced she was going to be in Tuesday Wednesday Thursday starting in April, very much in the 3 days in, 2 days WFH camp. Sigh. I guess time will tell on where this settles, but guessing our finance org is going to at least primarily start at 3 days in, despite my direct manager previously agreeing with me that 2 days made sense. I understand everyone is making this up as we go, but the runaround on expectations is a little exhausting!

Good news is we have our 16 weeks OB appointment later this morning, so looking forward to hearing our little girl's heartbeat!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! What a great way to kick off the NCAA tourney. Couple that with some crazy warm weather that has settled in for the past 3 or so days, and this week was far nicer than I had anticipated. 16 week OB appointment yesterday went wonderfully, always great to hear the little girl's heartbeat! Hard to believe we'll be a family of 4 in 5-ish months!

No themed shave today, just a nice one with Hombres. Been on an Hombres / LEA kick this week, must be the warm weather!

TGIF friends! Quite a rainy one here and the bottom dropped out on our unseasonably warm weather we've had for a bit but at least it's Friday! Looking forward to a mostly relaxing weekend, we have our rescheduled date night tomorrow night from about a month ago so my son is going to stay with my parents for the evening and we have a nice dinner reservation at a local Italian restaurant. Should be super nice, can count on one hand the number of times we've gone out to dinner just the two of us the last 2 years.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Cadre!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! While the Illini did about as good as I had expected, it's sad to see the team get out-coached both games and really makes me question Underwood. Ah well. Date night on Saturday was lovely, and something we've pledged to do once a month now, at least until the baby girl arrives where it will most likely be put on hold for a bit. Just nice to get out the 2 of us. Spent much of the day yesterday replacing outlets around the house that clearly hadn't been touched since the house was built in the late 80s. Not sure it would have been on the top of my to-do list, but the wife was insistent and who am I to argue.

Great barbershop themed shave to kick off the work week. Thanks for reading and stopping by!

Your impromptu second date yesterday sounds like it was electric 😂

Yesterday was one of the quieter days I've had at work in a long time. Spring break is next week for most people here in Chicagoland, and then the first week in April is our official return to office, so kinda feels like people are a little checked out heading into the end of March. You'll hear no complaints from me, I was able to sneak out and rake the entire front yard, taking advantage of the 70 degree weather we had yesterday. 2022 lawn season is rapidly approaching!

Was touched by a random act of kindness sitting in my TSC DMs this morning - just wanted to say how much I enjoy talking to so many of you guys and following along in your journals as well. It really is the people that make TSC such a joy of a forum to participate in.

Can‘t go wrong with old school!

And on a positive front - we just may have a baseball season - bets on the month of the Phillies meltdown 😂?
Well, the White Sox have the window open to contend, and our ownership will continue to sit on their hands, refusing to pay the big bucks to fill our gaps and instead operate like a mid-market team. I hate Jerry Reinsdorf with a fiery passion, both for his management of the Sox as well as Bulls. He lucked into Jordan in the 90's and proved the '05 White Sox were a flash in the pan. Sigh.

On the bright side, my son seems to enjoy watching sports for 15 minutes at a time now, so really looking forward to taking some baseball naps together on the couch this summer  😂

Back in the office today for probably the last time until our company begins the formal "return to office" the week of April 4th. Will be very interesting to have the office full again. Pretty quiet on the home and work front, wife is getting our daughter's nursey all set up which of course is bringing both excitement and dread as we remember what those first few months are like...

What color scheme/theme did you go with for the nursery?
We landed on an "oh the places you will go" theme. Both my wife and I are fortunate to have travelled extensively during our early careers so she made a bunch of old school travel poster looking frames that are actually photos we had taken and run through Photoshop to look like watercolors (bless my wife, that is WAY beyond me) along with other small travel odds and ends. Color is the same as my son's room, "Bunny Gray" if I remember correctly. It's my prediction that eventually, most of our rooms are going to end up this color! :ROFLMAO:

Nothing too exciting to update, almost to the weekend friends.

I will say I'm happy the rumored L'Homme Ultime discontinuation last year was indeed just a rumor. This is just a great spring frag!

Happy Friday friends! Looking forward to a nice weekend here in Chicagoland. My buddy and his wife are in town from St. Louis, so going to a couple of our old favorite breweries this evening which should be really fun. Tomorrow is planned to be a relaxing day, and Sunday we're heading over to our friends' house who recently had a baby to meet the little girl. Lots of time with friends, which after 2+ years of pandemic, is something we're really excited about these days.

Weather definitely feels more like winter than spring right now, but using that as an opportunity to stick with some warmer weather scents. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
