Journal Entry 5:

Pre-Shave: Hot shower & Jack Black's Face Buff

Razor: Fromm No. 72 6/8

Brush: Je&Co. Synthetic

Bowl: PAA scuttle

Soap: TOBS Sandalwood

Aftershave: Osma Alum & Stirling Tea Tree, Witch Hazel, Aloe splash & Stirling Sandalwood balm

Moisturizer: CeraVe moisturizing cream

Results: I have not used TOBS in about a month or two because I was having a lot of fun trying out my other soaps from Christmas. While I was deciding which soap to use, I opened up my TOBS bowl and instantly missed it. Prior to today I have always enjoyed using TOBS, but I never thought I got a great lather from it. Today I kept the same routine, but instead of face lathering I used my scuttle and I used my synthetic brush to see if that had any affect.

I experienced the best lather I have ever gotten from TOBS. I don't know if it was bowl lathering, using a synthetic, being more attentive to detail recently, or taking some of y'alls techniques. The slickness was definitely up there, maybe not as slick as some of my newer soaps. But I didn't really feel the blade all that much and came away with a DFS.

Homefront: My wife and I had a doctors appointment for the baby today. They had to check her glucose levels and they were a little high, but not by too much. Still they want to monitor it and see her back next week. My wife talked to some of her friends that recently had babies and they said they were the same way, so until the doctor gives us a reason to worry, we are going to be optimistic. We also went to go meet with a potential baby sitter, and we were really impressed. We liked her a lot and luckily she said she would hold a spot open for us! Other than that everything is pretty much the same in small town Howe!

Thank y'all for reading and hope y'alls Friday went well!

Strong work, hermano. I'm sure if there were any cause for concern you would've been notified immediately.

Journal Entry 6:

Pre-Shave: Hot Shower & Jack Black's Face Buff

Razor: Dovo BQ 5/8

Brush: Yaqi Rainbow Brown Synthetic

Bowl: PAA scuttle

Soap: Razorock XXX

Aftershave: Osma Alum block, Thayers Witch Hazel, Baxter of California balm

Moisterizer: CeraVe moisturizing cream

Results:

Today was my first use with my Yaqi synthetic. I am still letting my WCS Badger break in, so I decided to use the Yaqi Rainbow synthetic. First impression is that it seems like a very soft brush and feels well balanced. I let it soak in warm water while I stropped my razor, and when I pulled it out to squeeze all of the excess water, I was surprised at how well it retained heat.

I decided to use Razorock XXX for the second time. The first time I used it I did not have a great experience. I noticed I had slight irritation and the lather was not necessarily slick. Today that was a different story. The brush made it easy to lather in my scuttle and it made a really slick and dense lather. Today it was very slick and so far I have no signs of irritation. Even when I used the alum I had very little feedback from it! I came away with DFS+ and could not be happier. I really like this brush and I am really glad that I decided to try out the Yaqi. The break in process for my WCS brush should be done by tonight, so I will try to use it either Monday or Tuesday morning.

Homefront:

Today we have church in the morning and a fundraiser in the afternoon. Hopefully the storms today aren't too bad. Wife is still feeling good so we are thankful for that.

Happy Sunday Cadre, and thank y'all for reading!

Journal Entry 7:

Pre-shave: Hot Shower & Jack Black's Face Buff

Razor: Fromm No. 72 6/8

Brush: WCS Honeycomb 26mm Badger

Bowl: PAA scuttle

Soap: CBL Premium Soap Iron Throne

Aftershave: Osma Alum & Thayers Witch Hazel & Harry's post shave balm

Results:

This was my first time using the Iron Throne soap. First impression of the scent, I could not really smell anything besides cedar and CBD oil, but I figured it would change once I lathered. Took my normal scoop out of the tub and put it in my scuttle. Soaked my WCS brush while I showered (first time using this too!)

Like with all of my other soaps I want to get enough lather for a pre-shave pass, WTG, XTG, and post shave. I noticed when I started to load my brush that the soap in my scuttle just absorbed into the brush. I added water little by little and within a minute or so the lather exploded!

I lathered once for my pre-shave while I stropped my razor and I started to pay more attention to the rest of the scent profile. I picked up on the bay rum and what I think was the juniper berry. One thing that I did notice is the cooling sensation. The description was not joking when it said fire and ice.

The shave went really well! Like I said before I did my normal two pass shave and I am DFS+! I really like this soap. The cooling effect is really cool. Proraso Green has menthol in it, but I didn't feel it cooled as well as this soap. I am excited to try out the other soaps I ordered, but this one is definitely up there for me. The only thing that I did not get from this soap is the sandalwood in it, but maybe after a few shaves I'll start picking up on it. I also really liked my brush. It hold a lot of water, but it really retains the heat from the water.

Homefront:

Nothing has really changed over here. My wife goes back to the doctor to get her glucose levels checked again, but so far her levels haven't been too high since she started recording them this past week.

Thank you guys for reading, and I hope y'all have had a good day!
