Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

Good stuff Doug. And to answer the question about tagging people. It is currently not available with our software company. It is however in the works and we are hoping will be available in the next 3 months or so. Trust me when that is made available a BIG announcement will be made as I believe it is something a lot of people want.

I guess that's another bonus of using Avon AS. The bottles really stand out in a SOTD pic.

Shave Quality
Three passes today for a great BBS- in three directions. I can feel a little where I would have gone ATG. If there had been extra time this morning for a fourth pass, I would have probably been BBS is all directions. I bloomed the Stirling this morning and my Sorrentino brush created a rich, dense lather. I could really get used to shaves this good. The alum feedback was less than I normally have.

Gear
The blade on day three remained sharp and smooth, removing the stubble comfortably and efficiently as with the previous shaves. There was no itchy feeling today. The blade was not noticeably different in performance from yesterday. There was no tugging, pulling, or skipping.

Fine Platinum with CdNIM is great stuff.

Other Thoughts
Work is starting to settle into a new normal. I have lots to learn before my coworker leaves at the end of the month. I hope we can hire a new person quickly, but considering the current unemployment situation in the US, that will probably take a while. The new facility is growing on me daily. I can't wait until our test lab is complete.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

I had gotten way, way behind in your journal Doug!

Great reads and shaves!

Is there a boar that I should try?
Yes the Stirling Boar and I really like my Semogue Excelsior 830 Boar also.

I need to figure out how to tag other users on this new platform.
Unfortunately this platform does not allow for that....yet.

Great couple of shaves, Doug! Glad you are finding a groove with those blades. I was lucky in my DE journey that I found early on that Feathers paired well with my razor, so I didn't have to do a lot of experimenting. Now of course that I am using the AC blades in my Asylum RX the DEs don't get much love, but its a comforting feeling when you know you are going to get a great shave when you pick that razor up.

I love SEs using Feather AC blades. I haven't tried the Asylum RX yet due to cost. I love my Colonial Razors General, however.

The Parker blades are good. I will be sending a few out to others who want to try them. I just figured it would be good to have a review of a new to market product on the forums. And it is fun to think about the review.

Day #4 of the Parker Premium Platinum DE shave review and a happy Friday to everyone.

Shave Quality
Three passes today for a great BBS-. There is a little more irritation on my neck than the past couple of days, which is due to using my old ear-to-chin pass on the neck. I used a wet brush without blooming the Stirling this morning and my Sorrentino brush once again created a rich, dense lather. The Tuxedo knot is a great performer. Overall it was a stellar shave. My face is really smooth and my neck has mostly recovered.

Gear
The blade continues to perform with no noticable. The Parker razor was a good match for the blade. It is a heavy TTO that is mild-to-medium aggressive. The razor showcased the blade well.

Other Thoughts
I can't wait for the weekend to start. I decided last n
ight that I was going to take out the lapping film that Dave (Xeno) PIFed me last year and make a first attempt at setting a bevel. I am also going to order a ton more lapping film from Amazon. I ordered some 600 grit and 1000 grit SiC to start burnishing my 6x2 SB Ark. I am also looking at Coticule bouts. I haven't kept count, but I have somewhere around 40-60 straight shaves under my belt over the course of the last year. I think it is time to start further down the straight rabbit hole.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Great shave Doug!

Where did you get the 1000 grit SIC? You might also want to get some 120 and 320 grit. I started with those and then finished with the 600. It makes quicker work of the lapping.
