Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

I like my new forum title, BTW. Thank you to whoever changed it.

I loved the "Knows how many licks to the center" title. It was fun. But, "Possibly Evil... or an Engineer" is quite fitting.

Time for a Christmas scent.

The CK formula is one of my favorites. It is not as good as CBL but I do think it is elite or close to it. The scent of this one is absolutely amazing. I love PAA's Frankincense and Myrrh base with the Bay. It is like Christmas Bay Rum. It made for a great shave today. The Blue Tip made quick work of it. The Super Max blade was smooth, but lacked sharpness. I even decided to chase the dolphin with pass three. However, I still ended up BBS-. It was a great shave and I have been smelling great all day.

Gear
The Supermax Titanium was not bad, but it wasn't good either. It is not one that I feel the need to buy or use again.

There is about half the tub of soap left from last Christmas. I wonder if the Kiritimati will last through Christmas this year.

Oh, and the Kiritimati AS burns like you wouldn't believe. There is a Bay leaf in the bottle and that has added a ton of heat to the AS.

Russell Brand's Re:Birth special on Netflix is a weird and interesting comedy special.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

I’m starting to get pretty jealous of everyone’s Christmas shaves....

Russell Brand is still around? I was wondering what happened to that guy. For me he’s either really funny or really annoying.

I think I had the same thoughts on Super max Titanium blades. It was nice for a couple of shaves. I have a fair amount of them...but likely won't be purchasing any in the future.

Doug,

I see you have been sticking with WCS Silvertip.. Any improvment as it breaks in and you get to know the brush?
I finally got to take a look at the brush on the link you attached. Have you tried face lathering with it?

Bulb shaped knots are traditionally used for face lathering.

\nI am still using it to bowl lather. It is getting better, but I think to get the most out of it I might need to face lather with it.\nHowever, each shave is a little better.

Since I just received 200 Shark SS blades from Amazon, I decided to inventory my DE blades tonight.

I have 2490 blades in my hoard. And 13 different blade models.

Although, I think I might just throw out the remaining 90 Rockwell black pack blades that I have. They are okay for me, but not great.

Just curious .. How many shaves per blade are you getting? I want to figure how old you will need to live to finish those off?

I was the same way with soaps... well not Chad bad but up there

Good stuff Doug. We need to get through the holidays but then I think we can see what to do about kicking off a blade exchange. We will be in touch.

\nLately I have only been going about 3 days on a blade at most. Some I have been using for just one. I have started using a new blade when I feel like it.\n\nI have been working through a bunch of random tucks from sampler packs when I first started. Once I am done with those we will see what my usages is. \n\nI can get a month of good shaves out of an Astra SP, so those blades alone could be 22 years... I guess I am ready for the shavepocalypse.

I was ready till I worked a trade for knife with Shawn. Happy with the knife but Now I have just under around a few hundred and need to be rebuild stock

I am sure that I will be PIFing more blades in the future.

I have 270 Parker PP blades alone. (After the two tucks that I am sending to Spider.) So, if you want to try a Parker blade I have a couple to spare.

Red Tips don't necessarily make for red faces...

The Kiritimati is great soap. I love the scent. It is also an elite performer. CBL gives me a better post shave experience, but the CK formula is not too far behind. The WCS Silvertip gave me one of the best lathers I have had out of this brush so far, but it does require building some of the lather for the first pass on my face. It just doesn't get it completely done in my Turkish shave mug. The Red Tip with the Treet blade gave
me no problems at all. I am happily BBS with only a tad more irritation than I might normally have on my neck.

Gear
PAA makes a really good soap. And I am still a fan of Treet blades.

Other Thoughts
I have some packages that I need to get in the mail today and tomorrow. I gotta get on the ball.
