Overview
Well, there's just a small crescent of Tabac left in the soap tub. How long will it last?

Shave Quality
I made a really wet sloppy lather today and flung it all over the place. The Merkur 34c + Croma gave me a mild and smooth DFS+ shave in two passes. It is a shame that the Tabac is almost gone. It looks like there is only enough left for one or maybe two shaves. This has been an excellent 3017. I can't wait to do it again next year for Tabactober.

Gear
The Croma blade is not bad. It didn't give me any problems in the 34c. I don't think it is as good as an Astra SP, but it is usable.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Good stuff Doug! I have some of the Croma blades laying around. They are actually pretty good performers.

Wait, the Tabac is at a crescent already? You just had donut status a few days ago!

Shhhhh...let it go....

Shave Quality
No shave today. I got up too late for even a cart shave.

Other Thoughts
Last night was my first night with an APAP machine. It is going to take me a few days to get used to the pillow mask, but I think it improved my sleep last night. This is definitely change for the better.

Hope the new machine greatly improves your rest! I’m not sure I, or the missus, could do it until later in life and absolutely necessary. The noise from the machine is horrendously loud in the night stillness. Still, I could use better rest...

The machine that I have is whisper quiet with the mask on. If you remove the mask with the pressure on there is a whoosh of air coming out of the tube, which is a bit loud. But, that is only if you remove the mask without stopping the machine.

If you have Sleep Apnea, you should really get it treated.

Mine is the same, can't hear it

Whatever it takes to improve your health! I hope it works out for you and you get some really good quality sleep!

I wonderful wet and slick lather today to finish off the Tabac. The 34c + Croma blade made for an easy and comfortable 3 pass DSBBS. It was a great way to finish this 3017.

Gear
Everything worked together today to give me the best shave I have had this month.

Other Thoughts
Today was a good day. I went to a pre-release event for a new card game called Keyforge (https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/keyforge/). It was tons of fun.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

With Tabac now done and gone. I think I am going to have a couple of free shaves with some AOS Sandalwood tallow formula and maybe some GTB before diving into The CBL Cigar Shop Cowboy, which I am definitely looking forward to.

Great job with the Tabac. Some free shaves will be nice before jumping in on the CBL

Wow! It really didn't take you that long at all with the that stinky Tabac! Good Riddance!

I LOVE the AOS Tallow Sandalwood! I haven't used it in awhile though...looks like I might bust that one out soon!

Sounds like a good plan to me!

Shave Quality
Rough shave today. The RR Hawk SEs are light and efficient, but they are a bit lacking in smoothness. My choice of soap didn't help much. The AOS tallow is good soap, but it is not elite. The scent is heavenly, but the performance is not quite as good as the Tabac, CBL, CFG, or PAA soaps that I have used recently. It all comes down to post-shave feel. The shave performance is great. I think I would put the AOS tallow in Box 3 or 4, so still Tier 1. There are many modern artisans that produce soaps that are just as good or better. I also somehow managed to nick myself at the corner of my mouth. It is just a pin hole nick, nothing serious. Perhaps there was a small protrusion or something. Whatever it was the middle of the blade got me. The BBS from yesterday continues. However there is residual irritation where yesterday there was none.

Gear
The AOS tallow soap has a sort of cult-like following. It was definitely good for its day, but it has been surpassed. I am glad that I have had a chance to experience it, but I am thinking that I may PIF my remaining unused puck.

The Hawk line are nice razors and definitely have great bang-for-buck. However, Colonial Razors definitely has a superior product.

Other Thoughts
Having a lazy Sunday at home while watching the snow fall. It looks like we have a good couple of inches already.

Good shave Doug, sorry it was a bit rough. That’s for your thoughts on the Hawk, I’ve been researching between those, the General, and other AC SEs.
