Shave Quality
Today I saw the formation of the dreaded soap ring of death! In other words, the bottom of the tub is now visible in the center of the remaining soap. At the current rate of usage, this puck only has a few days to live. Meanwhile, the shaves are still top notch. If this soap is not elite, then it only misses by a hair. I love the way it leaves my face feeling. The blade on the other hand was a tiny bit rough. Overall it was a smooth, easy shave. However, there was a bit more blade feel than I am used to with a Tech. Overall BBS- is still BBS-, so no complaints are to be filed.

Gear
The Post-War Tech is perhaps the best three piece DE that Gillette made. It is certainly my favorite.

The Bolzano blade is good, but not great. There are definitely blades (Astra SP, Parker, GSB, etc.) that work much better for me.

Other Thoughts
This was in my head while shaving today:

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Why is it the "dreaded soap ring of death." The only time I have seen a ring of any sort in my soap I was overjoyed! That means I have room for more soap!

I am sure if the soap were sentient it would be dreading it.

Other than that I was just being melodramatic.

I decided last night that I wanted to give the Feather SS a second try. I have been thinking about doing this since my first outing with it wherein I gave my chin a good slice. As I was getting it out before bed, I decided that I should perhaps strop it to smooth out any rough edges the blade might have. Stropping a shavette blade was a first for me, but it seemed like a good idea. This morning I got up determined to do two passes with the SS and I accomplished them without blood and with minimal irritation. This was the second first for me, shaving with a straight razor on a work day. I went for a third pass with the 34c as cleanup, but that may have been a mistake. I was starting to get a bit of irritation from the second pass with the SS. I think the DE pass only increased it for little to no gain. I shouldn't have used a new to me blade as the cleanup. My cheeks are BBS, but my neck is CCS+/DFS-. I just don't use straights often enough to get consistently good results on my neck. But, I have proven to myself that I can get in a straight shave on a work day.

Gear
The Feather SS is a great shavette. It has a good feel in the hand, but it is a bit forward heavy. The Feather Pro blades work very well with it.

Other Thoughts
I have too many things to do today.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

If I need to strop my shavette blades, I usually use my palm or a towel. I’m not sure using a regular strop would do the trick unless you have a special blade holder for stropping. Interesting experiment!

I stropped in in the SS. It seemed to help.

Guys, those things are replaceable you know
Should that stop me from trying to get the best performance out of them?

I have also stropped DE blades before to great effect. Which, now that I think of it, I should get back in the habit of doing.
