Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

Dry and cold winter? Interesting!

One wonders what sir Doug was staring at so long that his eyes dried out and he had to look away...?

30’s ewwww! We visited some friends up in Parker years ago. It was so dry that if you didn’t eat your sandwich quick enough the bread turned into a cracker. I had nose bleeds the whole time we were there.

....The dry climate here in Colorado tends to get even drier in the winter....
Dry eyes leads to eye strain....
Well Doug, I find it difficult to empathize....you're lucky a dog in that you get to LIVE IN COLORADO!!!

I remember a red ring of chapped skin around my mouth as a kid in my Colorado days.

I would say that Colorado is dry today, but when I open my mouth only dust comes out.
*queue comedic drum roll*
Thank you! I will be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress.

Journal Entry #145

I overslept and didn't have enough time to shave today, so I just used the AV 5-in-1 balm to moisturize and applied some Tabac EdC.

Snow???? In october?????? OMFG.
We can get snow as early as September and as late as June in Denver. In the mountains it can be a crap shoot year round. The snow doesn't usually stick around in Denver until February or March. The snow in the mountains usually starts around this time of year. Ski season tends to be October to April/May.

We have even had snow in July in Denver (https://denver.cbslocal.com/2015/07/17/this-date-in-weather-history-snow-in-denver-in-july/).

Snow???? In october?????? OMFG.

That's not crazy. I grew up in Michigan, we had snow often in October. I remember trick or treating in the snow! (a few times)

When I lived in Wyoming, over the course of 4 years, there were only 2 months that we never got any snow..... July and August.

The snow is not sticking here and appears to have stopped for now. Now it is just wet and cold. I don't mind wet. I hate cold.

Overview
What a difference a day makes...

Shave Quality
I think this razor does not like the Nacet blades or else my angle was just off. Probably the latter. The shave was rougher than it should have been. It could also be that coming to this razor from the DOC Ascension is a step down in shave quality. It was DFS+ on my neck and BBS on my cheeks. I am still loving the performance of Tabac. Also, I shaved off the top of a pimple just starting to form. It didn't bleed, but it is still irritated. It was a bit of a mixed bag today.

Gear
This is a heavy razor. The Pearl handle is long and hefty. I may have to give this one another shot tomorrow. I have had great shaves with it, but today's was somewhat disappointing. The V2OC head works well. I think I will try it with a different blade.

Gillette Nacet. This is the last blade of a single tuck that I purchased in a sampler back in 2016. The other blades in the tuck were good. This one seems sharp just like the others, which all gave me good shaves. I like Astra SP better, but it is hard to beat an Astra. I don't think I will be buying any more of these. (Actually, since I have a couple thousand blades I don't need to buy blades ever again.)

Other Thoughts
Tomorrow it will be 16 years. It feels like a time travel paradox, a long time yet not a long time.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.
