Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

I agree with you on the R41. Great razor it used to be daily driver for awhile. One small mistake though and it will bite!

I haven't had a cherry coke in a LONG time. That sounds good!
I definitely felt the blade gap a couple of times this morning. So, I see what you say about small mistakes. I have used less forgiving razors than the R41, but it still deserves respect.

If you get in the mood for a Coke product look for six packs of the little 7oz. cans in the grocery store. I will use one of those cans to satisfy a craving without drinking a full 12 or 20 ounces.

I am trying to stick mostly to tea and water these days. I love hot tea. I have decided to start avoiding the fancy coffee machine in the office also.

I hear ya! I drink a lot of coffee...I mean A LOT! And I probably need to back off of it a little. I love tea...any kind...black, greet, matcha, herbal...I love them all. And I don't need to put sweeter in them. I have been trying to drink a cup of tea at night...but I just keep forgetting to make it. The struggle is real!

The struggle is indeed real!

Shave Quality
Not quite BBS today. I will call it DFS+, but just a fabulous shave. The R41 worked that whisker whacking magic for me again. It was Tabacalicious.

Gear
The Big Bruce is a really great brush for a great price. I really love the synthetic knots that we are getting these days. I need to get a couple of high-end badgers at some point, but until then I have wonderful synthetics.

Other Thoughts
My work situation constantly reminds me that you get what you pay for.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Some Tabactacular shaves, Doug!

I may need to get another Sorrentino brush. I love the one that Eric made for me. I see no reason to even consider Paladin or any other custom brush.

Thanks so much for the kind words, Doug. Would it hurt business to say that I love Paladin brushes, and still plan on getting one..or two...maybe more..someday? lol

The Big Bruce is king in my den when it comes to brushs for the time being (of my meager 8 brush experience), love that thing! Always holds enough, lathers anything, feels great!

Love my Piccolo.

Shave Quality
Full on BBS FTW. The Piccolo just mowed down every whisker it encountered and left me with very little irritation. The lather was standard Tabac lather, so you know it was stellar. My chin and neck has a bit more irritation than I am used to, but not much more.

Gear
You all know how I love the Fatip Piccolo. It is my favorite OC razor.

Other Thoughts
Too many high tech companies make their products, especially software products, needlessly complex.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

No shave on Saturday.

Shave Quality
BBS- in two passes. The lather was great and the shave was very low in irritation. Today's was a fabulous shave.

Gear
This razor is a great performer. I tightened it all the way down for the first shave. It was mild and efficient. It is all stainless in construction. The handle is comfortable and reminds me of the Gillette ball-end handle. I am very happy with this purchase.

Other Thoughts
Marco Polo is an interesting series.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Nice Shave Doug! I have the Grand Shave King, which I believe is the inspiration for the PAA DOC Ascension. The Grand Shave King is an incredibly delicate razor. It's an aluminium handle and the head and base plate are zamack (I think) in silver plating. If you tighten the handle too much it torques down on the head and bends it. In addition to it being fragile...it is probably the mildest razor I have ever shaved with. Bing up there with the first two plates of the Rockwell 6s.
