Okay this will be cool to see how long a CBL soap lasts!
Oh, a 3017 of a full tub of CBL is in the offing. It will be fun to see how long it lasts. The question is will I find myself loading lighter to make the tub last longer. This is seriously good soap.

Great review! I find the “It’s not horrid” or “I don’t hate it” amusing for some reason, maybe I’m just warped.

Call me a crazy, but Tabac cannot be improved. I am so trying TabacTober!
I don't hate it, but I also don't love it. I will say that it has grown on me since I first received the sample. It was hate at first whiff, but subsequent smells have improved it to not hating it anymore. I am not sure I could ever get to "like" with this particular scent. Time will tell.

And, I totally agree with you that Tabac is just about perfect. Starting tomorrow I will be 3017ing a full jar of Tabac soap. It may last me until Groundhog Day, but it will be a wonderful time.

....Tabacaveg....The scent... is... well... I guess I would call it interesting? It is not horrid, but I am not sure it is something I would buy for myself. I love the scent of Tabac, but I am not sure I think it mixes well with The Veg....

I can unequivocally answer that for you Doug....it does NOT mix well with the Veg. The Veg will taint anything!

Good luck with 3017ing! Tabacaveg will grow on you. And just follow it up with some Tabac AS and you good to go.

It was a heavenly shave today. The Injector did its work efficiently with little irritation. The lather was dense, rich Tabac goodness. It was two passes to BBS- that was a great way to start the day.

I forgot to weigh the tub and puck before starting this 3017. Damn.

Before getting introduced to Tabac I never would have guessed that I might like, or love, a floral scent. I liked spicy and citrusy and sandalwoody scents. But the foral perfume of Tabac I find enchanting. The soap is an elite performer for me and I love the scent.

Other Thoughts
Today was a mixed bag, but now it is the weekend. I am happy that the work week is ended. The next one will start too soon.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Congratulations on making it to the weekend!

Tabac was definitely a risk for me as well. It’s pretty much the Veg of soaps in terms of how polarizing it is. Unlike the Veg however, it’s a winner for me!

Nice shave Doug. After nearly 10 years back into traditional shaving I still haven't been enticed to try Tabac as I to am not really a floral lover. Glad it works for you.

Tabac is definitely great! And I totally dig the scent, however, "floral" isn't a word that comes to my mind in describing the scent. I've never really figured out how to describe it.

I never would have guessed anyone would say it either. I smell it spicey woody and that is about all.

Tabac does have some floral notes, but I would never describe it as a floral scent. It’s about as manly and rugged of a scent that you could ever ask for. I doubt the scent tree helps at all, but this is what basenotes says about it:

That looks interesting. Maybe I'll get a stick to try.

When I smell it I get the floral notes up front with undercurrents of woods and spices.

I wouldn't call it rugged and manly. I would call it refined and gentlemanly.

Another day of shaving like James Bond. (I imagine Tabac is something that Bond would wear when dressing up in a tux to go to a casino for the evening.)

Another amazing shave today. I love the lather that this soap produces. It was so good that I did three passes for full-on BBS. My face feels great and I smell like a billion dollars.

Floral, woody, spicy... Whatever it is, I love it. Tabac is really top notch stuff.
I pulled the puck out of the jar today and weighed the empty container. 316 grams on my kitchen scale. That means the whole thing should have weighed 441 grams at the start with the puck.

Other Thoughts
Having a lazy Saturday. I am sitting at the cigar shop with a corncob pipe in my mouth enjoying a bowl full of unobtanium, some McClelland Frog Morton Across the Pond.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Nice shave Doug and you've pushed me over the edge. Have a Tabac Stick ordered so I can be like Doug and James Bond !!
I hope you like it. If you don't, I will happily take it off your hands.

I did some reading. Apparently Ian Flemming was a big fan of Floris No.89, which should have a small bit of similarity to Tabac.

From Basenotes:

About No. 89
A quintessentially English fragrance, the traditional gentlemen's choice. No. 89 for men is synonymous with suave and is in fact the preference of James Bond himself.

The Tabac stick is excellent, and in fact, probably the best shaving stick there is.
