Overview
My favorite GEM.

Shave Quality
It was a great shave. I just wish I didn't keep opening the nick on my chin from the SS. The lather was great. The blade was new. Everything was awesome, except for my chin opening up again. I may have to take a day or two off to let this thing heal. There was the usual amount of alum feedback. Overall I am BBS- with a tiny bit of residual irritation.

Gear
The Heavy Flat Top is another great entry razor into the GEM line. It shaves much like the MM Flying Wing, but it is a bit lighter. I also like the handle styling. This is a great mild and efficient razor.

I binned my previous PTFE blade because I thought this razor deserved a new blade. It was smooth and nice.

The Proraso green splash is still wonderful stuff. I used a good glug of it today. I am definitely buying the 400 ml. bottle and an atomizer when this small bottle is gone.

Other Thoughts
Today makes two days this week hitting the elliptical. I am also trying to get back into the practice of Tai Chi. Exercise is good. I feel better after working out. I need to remember that.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Have not tried that GEM style either but from what i hear about the level of mildness being close to the FW i don't really need to. Nice write up Doug

Good for you on getting into some meditative exercise! Tai Chi is a great base to build on - stretches muscles and ligaments, gets blood circulating, makes you look like Kung fu master...

Journal Entry #131

No shave today and I probably won't shave tomorrow. I need to let my chin heal up.

Hard to do but sometimes smart! It will mean better shaves once the skin has healed.
Bummer, that must have been a big one.
Man, SEptember really took its toll on poor Doug!
I know the feeling. After the bites from the Rex Ambassador I opened the chin every shave for almost a week. Finally settled down.
I tend to have that problem after nicks
hope the healing does you some good. i know we have all been there.

Thanks everyone!

This is that nick that my first run with the Feather SS gave me. It wasn't that bad at first, but my subsequent shaves have opened it up a bit more.

I really could have used my shave this morning. I miss that bit of meditation when it isn't there. My day is just not right without it.

Getting caught up on your journal Doug. Sorry to hear about the split chin...a cut on the chin can be nasty! Also, love hearing about people doing unexpected excercise. Tai Chi is something I think would be absolutely awesome to learn.

Finally caught up Doug! some good shaves in there, though you got caught a couple of times. Hopefully it heals sooner rather than later.

AS 2: Aqua Velva Sensitive 5-in-1 ASB

Shave Quality
Removed three days worth of growth. That was the longest I have gone without shaving since starting this hobby. It was a really great shave.

Gear
The GEM FW is a good razor, but I like the G-Bar better.

9/24
Pre
: Hot shower/splash of cool water/Shave Secret oil
Razor: GEM Push-button
Blade: GEM PTFE (3)

AS 2: Aqua Velva Sensitive 5-in-1 ASB
AS 3: Proraso green splash

Shave Quality
This was an okay shave. The lather was good, and the shave smooth. However, there was some lasting irritation for a few hours after the shave.

Gear
The GEM Push-button is another mild GEM. I just don't like the button mechanism. It also isn't as good of a shaver for me as the G-Bar.

Overview
Dolphin chasing can be rough business.

Shave Quality
The shave was going so well today, and I had a couple extra minutes, so I decided to indulge in pass three. I probably should have stopped at two. I am DSBBS, but I have some residual irritation. It would have been perfect without the razor burn.

Gear
The M-Type Injector is really good. The adjustability is a bit limited but does change the shave.

The AOS cream should be done tomorrow.

Other Thoughts
Just gotta keep on keeping on...

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Mild irritation seems to be a theme last few shaves. Perhaps time to change that ? blade.

Good overview of the last few days Doug! I must say that I have enjoyed the shaves from the GEM Jr. Dave in KY sent. I now have a little bit of reference for when you use yours!

Hope the week is otherwise off to a good start!

Shave Quality
This was the best shave that I have had in several days. It was a smooth and effortless DFS+ in two passes with almost no irritation afterwards. The AOS cream finished strong.

Gear
5oz. ~= 142 grams. That is about 3.8 grams per shave. That is higher than I would like, but the shaves were great. I would definitely buy this again.

Tomorrow will probably be some CBL Tabacaveg and then on to Tabac.

Other Thoughts
Every day is an opportunity to improve.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.
