Overview
Into every wetshaver's life an occasional rough shave must fall.

Shave Quality
Today was two passes worth of rough shave. Man, was my technique off. The MMOC scraped and bit. I came away with one pin-prick in my mustache area, but that was not the bad part. Somehow I managed to take a small chunk (about a millimeter in diameter) out of my cheek mid stroke. Alum closed it up nicely, but just not a good shave. I am not sure how, maybe I just lost focus for a second, but this is the worst nick that I have had in months.

Gear
The MMOC is great but it didn't love me today.

TGIF.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Ouch. I have never been able to master those razors.
Mastery with GEMs appears to be a very fluid thing. You have to keep on them to get consistently good results. I just don't use them often enough.

I want to get some of the modern GEM SEs, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Those might be less finicky.

Yikes! MMOC-1, Doug-0

Sorry about the shave..... you need to come back and even the score!

I have several of the AC style modern SEs not yet took any of the modern GEM razors into the den and havent really wanted one i like the vintage ones well enough

Yikes, that sounds super painful! “Rough” might be putting it mildly.

Good thing there’s a RR Game Changer on deck! ?

True. But, it is SEptember, so SEs are the name of the game.

Bummer about the two lack luster shaves, but as you said bad shaves happen! Just will make the next good one that much better!

Yeouch, sorry man. Always sucks to be reminded how sharp these blades really are.

Sorry to hear about the shaving mishaps, but its times like these that keeps us humble and we learn to improve our shaves!

Shave Quality
I was going to use my new Feather SS today since it has bee weeks since my last straight shave. However, since my face is recovering from yesterday's MMOC adventure, I decided to go with something more mild and reliable, The General. To change it up, I decided to face lather today. It reminded me why I prefer to bowl lather. I got a great shave, but the suds didn't develop as well on my face as they do in the bowl. Still, it was a very comfortable and bloodless two pass shave. Maybe I will pull out the SS tomorrow. We shall see.

Thank you for your kind words and encouragement everyone. I need to take a bit more care and spend more time with my GEMs.

Gear
My whole kit worked very well together today. Everything was just right.

Going to see Craig Ferguson tonight at the Comedy Works in downtown Denver. I am really looking forward to his show. If you ladies and gentlemen have Netflix I suggest looking him up. He has two Netflix specials that are a riot. I love going to see stand-up. Denver's Comedy Works is one of the premier comedy clubs in the nation. The LOTH and I love going there.

Sounds like a good show! I love going to comedy shows as well.

We just recently went to see Bob Saget when he came to Kansas City. He was hilarious.

Awesome recovery shave Doug!

Craig Ferguson is a crack up, I was bummed when he gave up the Late Late Show.

Nice few shaves there, Doug, though the MMOC took a bit of aggression out on your cheek. I'm still debating on when to grab my GEM Jr. and take it for a spin...lol.

The shave was not bad, just a tad bit rough. Overall it was a DFS+ day. The AOS lather is still great stuff.

Gear
The Hawk isn't quite as good as The General.

Other Thoughts
Craig Ferguson was hilarious. I hope I get to see him live again in the future.
