Shave Quality
The shave Saturday left me a little raw. I thought at the time that it was because it was my first foray with the Supply Single Edge SE. My face was red and spotty, so I decided to take Sunday off. The shave was BBS, however. I figured today's shave would be great after taking Sunday off. Boy, was I wrong. Part of the issue on Saturday was using too much pressure with the Supply SE. That wasn't the problem today. I don't know what is in the soap, but it lit me up hard. I didn't just get tingles under my nose, like I do with some soaps, this is full on red stinging ouch on my face and neck.
Gear
- The Supply Single Edge SE is good. With the proper angle and pressure it is really mild and efficient. However, there is enough blade gap that it can give you a good scrape with an off angle.
- I like the RR Argan Oil formula soap base, but this specific soap is full of NOPE for me. I am not sure what did it, but the reaction was very real.
- Neroli Woods is a fabulous fragrance. But, perhaps way too light to be used in the cold.
Other Thoughts
It was a mostly relaxing long weekend, except for two things. 1) On Sunday I got the results of my PCR test back. This ick that I have been dealing with is totally Covid-19. Since it is a breakthrough infection on top of my booster, and because of the symptoms that I have had, my guess is that it is probably Omicron. 2) My wife came down with in on Saturday. She is also boosted. But, I feel shitty for bringing it into my house after two years of being careful. I know that it is inevitable that we all will get it at some point, and I am glad it happened now rather than earlier in the pandemic, but it still feels bad. I guess this is just a part of getting back to normal. I should add that I am feeling better today, like I am on the tail end of this.
I did see some good news. The new Novavax vaccine is nearing FDA approval. It is a non-mRNA vaccine that is apparently more than 80% effective in testing. It will be nice to have at least one option that is a standard vaccine available. Apparently this jab is made up of the spike protein from the virus and will create antibodies for that which will then in turn fight off the actual virus. Kinda cool, IMO.
Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.
