Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

It's a topic i assiduously avoid. It's why I left Facebook. Too much anxiety.

You have to learn to scroll past things that infuriate you. Also the Unfollow feature works wonders.
I've unfollowed people not because of what that are saying, but the insane volume of things they post.

Shave Quality
Another smooth and easy BBS with some killer Bluebell lather. There was absolutely nothing wrong with today's shave.

Gear
The Green Ray delivered the lather again today. Great brush!

The Mergress has a great feel. The weight makes for an excellent shave. I think it was money well spent.

Other Thoughts
Had a great Saturday lazing around the house.

We watched the early release of Bloodshot with Vin Diesel on Prime. It is very well done. It is a comic book movie that I could watch again.

Too much pressure

Shave Quality
I started wetshaving back in February of 2016, but I still have a problem with using way too much pressure, especially on my neck. It was a close, smooth, even BBS today, but my neck has been irritated ever since. I need to pay a bit more attention more often. When I do I get a phenomenal shave. When I don't I have a day like today.

Gear
The Solar Flare really delivered the lather. This is yet another great brush from PAA. I like the handle on this one a bit better than the Green Ray.

Other Thoughts
I bought yarn this weekend. I don't need more yarn, but I needed a bit of retail therapy. I am looking forward to it arriving. I ended the week a little angry, but I am calming down... Just in time to start another week...

Shave Quality
It was a much better shave today. BBS in two passes with better pressure management. I am very pleased with today's shave.

Gear
All of it is great stuff. I may have to look into acquiring some other high-end razors.

I weighed the tub with lid last night before bed. The initial weight, before I started using it, was 222 grams. The soap was a little dehydrated at that point. Last night it weighed 186. I figure that the container with lid weighs in at around 80 grams. This means there were about 106 grams of soap remaining before today's shave. So, after Sunday's shave I had used around 36 grams of soap in 13 shaves, or around 2.77 grams of soap per shave. Going at that rate it should take me about 37 more shaves, after today's, to empty the tub. That is not bad for 5.0 ounces of soap. I hope it goes a little more quickly, but we shall see.

Other Thoughts
Manic Monday by the Bangles was playing in my head during my shower this morning.

Close is a Mergress XL set to 5

Shave Quality
Wow, did I have all the blade feels today. A normal Progress on 5 is a little on the aggressive side. The Mergress on 5 is definitely on the aggressive side. In fact today's shave was one where I had to pay really close attention to blade angle. The shave was extremely close and I am BBS. However, the residual irritation is fading quickly. I feel more exfoliated rather than irritated. The excellence of the lather really helped make the shave a really good one.

Gear
I continue to be happy with the Mergress XL. The added weight does mean that I won't be using the higher settings much, if at all.

Other Thoughts
My phone got itself stuck in a reboot loop last night for the second time in less than six months. I had to reset it to factory from the bootloader menu. Not cool, especially on a phone less than two years old. Looks like I am going to be switching it out for something that is, hopefully, more stable later this month. It really sucks, but I need something where my apps don't crash all the time and it doesn't have to be reset to factory every few months.

3017ing is the only way to go! How many here have old soaps that have lost their scent? Not a problem for the intrepid few who know better. Plus, clearing out the den makes room for More Stuff!
Pfft i have soaps that are decades old and still perform and smell great. As to making room for more. It is called room additions LOL

Overview
Smooth and easy

SOTD Pic

Shave Quality
The shave was fast and easy. The 15c is a mild and efficient OC razor. Big Ben isn't my favorite blade, but they work well enough in the 15c. Had I taken it a bit slower, and spent more time building the lather, it would have been a better shave, but I had an early meeting. Call it DFS+.

Gear
Merkur makes great razors. The 15c is definitely one of them. It is a 3-piece with a rather thin handle. It is comfortable to hold, but I do wish the handle were thicker. It is good stuff all things considered.

Other Thoughts
Happy Hump Day.

It seems like you've been using a lot of gear that doesn't mesh with your face so well recently.
