Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

I believe in work/life balance. I am not going to do nights and weekends on a regular basis. I will once in a while during a crunch, but not regularly.

If it is a wee out sort of scenario, I may be one of the weeds.

There are plenty of jobs out there in my field. I just need to find a place that has the right cultural fit and has a product that interests me. I had that from 2013 to 2017. I will find it again.

Or I have to figure out how to make this situation work.

his boss seems to believe in loading people down then turning up the pressure.
My boss is pretty much like that. Working from home has actually been a stress reducer for me. My boss' management style (if he actually has one) is fear and intimidation. To make matters worse...he puts people in a position to fail. Hang in there...you will find a great job or this one will get better for you.

This job was good for a year. This guy is new to the company (started in February) and hasn't fully assimilated the culture. Maybe he will learn to relax a bit. At least that is what I hope. I don't want to have to look elsewhere.

I feel bad for people in your situation. Don't worry though there are managers out there like myself where I tell my employees DO NOT install company email on your phone. You need a break! If we desperately need someone we can text and then log onto the system. Last thing I want is my employees getting burned out because they are reading email from their personal device all day.

Chin up it will all work out.

Shave Quality
A repeat from yesterday. Same setup. Same results. Everything was amazing and ended up BBS with no alum feedback.

Gear
A small chunk of soap broke off of the puck today. It is now a crescent. I think there is still at least a week of shaving left on this soap. We will see how many more shaves it gets. I have loaded this thing hard the whole time and the lather has been off the charts.

Other Thoughts
I get the results of my quarterly review today. This one is a peer review. I hope it goes well.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

There were no surprises in the review. I am on track to get where I need to be.

For the first time in two months of weekly meetings I actually connected with my new boss and left a meeting with him with less anxiety than I started the meeting with. We will see if this means anything long-term.

I’m glad you’re reaching a little better comfort level with the boss. That helps a lot in the overall work environment.

Came away from the shave BBS- with a small amount of irritation and a nick on my left jawline. Overall it was a really good shave.

Gear
The Single Ring is a classic, but the 34c is a better shaver.

The soap crescent continues to grow. I hope to finish this one next week. We will see if that happens.

Other Thoughts
Things ended on a better foot with my new manager yesterday. We will see if this is a permanent positive turn of events, or just an anomaly.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

I'm kinda caught up. I hope things continue to trend in a positive direction with your new boss. I don't know a single person that works well under sustained, unbearable pleasure; I hope your boss realized that method of management is horrifically detrimental. Keep up the hard work, Doug!

Yeah. He seems to be backing off a bit. We'll see if that continues.

This was not the shave I was looking for...

Shave Quality
Today the Baby Smooth... wasn't. The shave is BBS, but the residual irritation is real. I need to be more careful with my angle when using this razor. The lather was great, but that didn't stop the burn from happening.

Gear
The Baby Smooth is not the greatest razor in the world.

A couple of small chunks broke off of the soap today. It still looks like I have enough for another week.

Other Thoughts
Weekends are less fun now, but I am glad it is almost here anyway.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Sorry to hear about the irritation. Sometimes chasing the baby comes with a cost lol.
