Thanks everyone!!! Agreed on all counts on Kyoto as a scent...it's really well crafted. Again, I wasn't a fan at first, but I guess my scent pallet has become slightly more sophisticated because I do appreciate what this scent is and how it works as a whole. Still don't like the cedar note, lol. And performance of the V3 base is great...right there with Noble Otter.

Another good couple videos Josh, thanks for the shout out. Chris says the affect is from the use of Allantoin but you only get the effect from consecutive uses so I'm trying to just intersperse soap uses between CBL, LNHC and A&E to keep the affect going. Here's what google says about it. Most notably, allantoin is considered an effective moisturizing ingredient when used in skincare, and its gentle, non-irritating qualities make it an excellent addition to anti-aging products for those with sensitive or easily irritated skin. ... Allantoin may also help to: Increase skin smoothness. Aid in wound healing.

Thanks for mentioning the differences between RR p160 and the original, I had wondered! Good shave today!

nice shave and Video Josh, and frankly Cella is not much to write home about so you are not missing anything

Thanks Chris! So the story is actually a bit more interesting than I led on in the video. So the makers of P.160 normally took a fall break in October or November. Well, in 2009 or 2010, they did just that but never re-started production. Joe at Italian Barber a few years later, (2014 I believe), was able to get his hands on the original recipe and released it under the RR soap brand. They did alter one thing from the original formula, and the sales did not do as well as they thought they would. So, the next year, the soap was re-formulated into the original RR tallow formula, which is still used today.

Another thing I found out doing a little research is that this was the only soap, for the most part, used in Italian barber shops. They would carry both Morbido (soft type) and Duro (hard type), (the formula is the same, with the proportions slightly different), So when you would go to get a shave, you would only have to specify whether you wanted "Morbido" or "Duro". Now, I'm sure there are other soaps that were used by barbers, but this was the one that was used by a huge majority. It was sold towards the end, in 1kg blocks, but before that when it was owned by Figaro, it was sold in 8oz tubs; similar to Soap Commander.

Great shave Josh, have a good day !!

Thanks Dave!

That's good to hear, because it really doesn't get the C.E.C. loins fired up on its own merits. LOL

Good stuff as always Josh! Is there a noticeable difference in the scent of Satsuma from any other citrus scented soap? Just curious.

So Satsuma is a little different than others. It's very similar in scent to Tangerine Creeper, without the "cream" aspect. Very bright citrus, but sweet at the same time. If you've ever eaten a fresh Cutie or Halo, that's what it smells like.

Nice Video Josh and while I like my Orange Chill, when I see you shave with and describe Satsuma I think it would have been a better fit for me (y)

Thanks Dave!

Wow, good info on the P.160. I've never heard some of that before. Thanks.

Yeah, I had to do a little digging to find that, but definitely interesting. I'm a little sad that they discontinued it, but happy that I was able to get a small tin of it before it became even harder to find. Good not great performer, but the fact that you can't get it anymore makes the shave pretty novel. As is using any unobtainium item or software.

Thanks! Definitely know what a Satsuma smells and tastes like...have a tree in my back yard...was just wondering how the scent translated to soap. I find a lot of the citrus scented soaps all smell alike and was wondering if this was different. But if it's like Tangerine Creeper...then yes please!

Probably worth checking out for you then, Don! If you have a Satsuma tree out back, go cut into a ripe one and smell. That's what this is like....pretty amazing actually.
