Charlie's Shaves & Shenanigans (not necessarily in that order)

Since this a no-shave day, here's my shenanigans entry for the journal.

It's a well-known fact that classical hit songs, preferably those from the Golden Age of Disco, receive new life and meaning with shaving lyrics. This particular inspiration came upon me like a lightning strike after completing a 30-day shaving focus many moons ago. (I'm not a Williams or Lilac Vegetal connoisseur, but I may still have some after effects from the lightning strike.)

Smooth baby smooth
Smooth baby smooth
Smooth baby smooth
Smooth baby smooth
To my surprise a month of shaves gone by
Faces getting smooth y'all
Getting down on the Veg
Folks are screaming out of control
It was so entertaining
When the Williams started to explode
I heard somebody say
Smooth baby smooth Cadre inferno...

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.
I have missed some proper shenanigans. May your shenanigans grow and prosper.

Z3 Gillette Flare Tip
Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Poculi handle w/28 mm APShaveCo SynBad flat top knot
Stirling Executive Man
Alum, witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, Alt-Innsbruck & Aramis

Aside from my four-soap rotation, this has been my set-up for the past few days. I have a light beard, and the Superspeed gets it done for me. The brush is a @JTSpartan original, and it face-lathered the daylights out of the Stirling soap today.

Pre-shave included a face wash with MWF bath soap and plenty of hot water.

I typically perform one pass plus touch-ups or two passes if I’m puttin’ on the dog. Today’s shave was a combination of WTG (face)/ATG (neck) on the first pass and XTG/ATG touch-ups around my jawline, chin, and mouth on two days of growth.

I keep my off-hand busy during the shave by stretching my skin - a gamechanger for me. I always use a light touch and pay attention to blade angle. Blade strokes extend about an inch and are slightly overlapping. I try not to shave over un-lathered areas.

A close, comfortable, and boo-boo free shave resulted.

I normally finish with a warm water rinse, alum, another warm water rinse, witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and aftershave. I’m currently finishing up a bottle of Alt-Innsbruck, which is one of my favorites. I even threw caution to the wind, and gave myself a few shots of Aramis to the chest.

I couldn’t ask for a better shave. I hope you all are having a fantastic week.

Grace and Peace.

Alt-Innsbruck is way up on my list to try. Aramis? Well, my friend, you just got cooler.

Except for a couple of minor substitutions, today's shave was similar to yesterday.

We're meeting some long-time friends for lunch at a local Italian restaurant. Big fan of the Calzones, although I can't order them often. As I'm under my Bride's close supervision, I can only eat half (or less - HA!) at one sitting.

Happy Friday!

Grace and Peace.

We turned on the heat yesterday and made plans for a mid-January trip to Minnesota! Anybody missing summer yet?

Now that is a calzone!

Umm...no! I am waiting for it to end. Going to be near 90 today in balmy southern Louisiana. I'm ready for any semblance of fall or winter. Hell, I'll take spring at this point too!

Don, it's a massive Calzone. I can't have one very often unless I want to invest in new britches. :)

So. Louisiana weather sounds good right about now. We visit the Florida panhandle every chance we get. They get some pretty nice weather too.

Rudy Vey Chubby handle w/24 mm Shavemac Silvertip two-band bulb knot
Tabac
Alum, witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, afta & Aramis

I made a couple of changes in today’s lineup.

First, I pulled out my Rudy Vey brush after a long break. The chubby handle is a little short, but the knot has soft tips and nice backbone. It made short work of the Tabac shave soap. This is a 2014 LE handle, and Rudy gave me # 15 in honor of my Dad who was born in 1915.

Second, I brought out my Robert Becker brush scuttle for some warm lather. I’ve given several Becker scuttles to friends, and I’m down to this one and a larger matching scuttle. Both are keepers, for sure.

Both Rudy and Robert are true gentlemen.

Bottom line: just one careful pass with warm lather and plenty ‘o skin stretching produced a comfortable, boo-boo free shave.

I’m enjoying an easy day with my beautiful Bride and Tom Hanks (movie time), and I even managed to complete a 45-minute walk between rain showers.

I hope you all are having a fine day.

Grace and Peace.
