Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

Nice shave today Chad...I always marvel at the craftsmanship of those Aristocrats. I'll have to watch the video later as I am already late for work!

It is true the arisocrats are a work of art.

Not the razor I had in mind when you said you were borrowing his aristocrat.
But Gillette made several different aristocrats. That’s a great one! Never used one like that. Think I need to get one!

I checked ebay. I shouldn't have. Too pricey.

Great shave. I might have to see if I can find that model of Aristocrat.

As am I.

Beautiful pic today! Privilege of a shave!

Thank you.

Enjoyed the video Chad! Love the look of those British 'Crats...always have my eye out for one in decent shape, but have a hard time, like eveyrone else with the cost.

Great shave Chad. I love the look of the Aristocrats, and would love to find one in the wild someday.

Thanks Josh. They certainly are pieces of art.

Looking forward to the rest of the videos and final comparison

Thanks Dave.

As would I! Thanks Eric.

Razor: Timeless Razor .68 Gap
Blade: Astra SP (1)
Soap/cream: Lisa's NHC Lavender, Sage, Eucalyptus
Brush: Razorock Synthetic
Aftershave1: T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Fine Lavender Pour Homme

Okay well as I continue these comparisons, I am now onto the Timeless. This is almost not a fair fight because I LOVE this razor, and the the beautiful Aristocrat will need to find his way home eventually. But I am trying as hard as I can. But what I can say is that the Timeless is heftier, larger head, longer handle, and easier for me to hold. The weight of this razor really does the shave for you. It is almost foolproof. I can truthfully say this razor has NEVER niked me or cut me.

I also used the last of Lisa's soaps as in rotating through them all. This one is a wonderful scent where all 3 notes just play so well together. I absolutely LOVE IT! I finished with some lavender for ma homies and wow what a shave.

I go over more about this razor and also have a discussion about expensive products. Curious on thoughts.

Preparing for camping, also got the lawn mowed yesterday in the heat. MAN it is hot! I am looking forward to getting up into the mountains that is for darn sure!

Have a great Wednesday cadre.

Thanks for conducting this test for me, Chad. The first video was informative. Today's video, however, did not appear - not sure what happened to it.

Thank you Chris. The second video I still had set as private. I have changed it to public. It should work now.

Sadly, I have two Aristocrats and can confirm they are magnificent shavers. In fact I might go so far as to say the Aristocrate is the best I own. Why "sadly"? Because neither are the #16 (or even English). I would love an open comb English Aristocrat but they are hard to find and tend to be a little pricey. Both of mine are in pretty ratty condition and are the least sought after version But I like them. I may one day end up selling one of them but that would mean i would have to dig them out and figure out which one it is that i have been shaving with.

That Timeless is pretty slick too. I am not sure I like the different bases and the need to decide and purchase the base(s) you want. I have such a hard time deciding on what I like.

That was the hardest part was picking the base. And now I am stuck wondering if I made the right choice. One day I will buy the other head, but I talk myself out of it because I get such great results as is. I would love to find an aristocrat in as good of condition as the one I am borrowing. Man it is a beaut!

Well here we go. Another shave with this beautiful razor. I did not record the shave. But after my shave I felt bad for those that might be following the journey only via video. So I recorded a chat on the way into work.

But anyways I honestly just blown away by this razor. I have used a lot of Gillettes from techs, knacks, slims, fatboys, those small travel techs, etc, and also the multi blade monstrosities. This is by far the best Gillette Razor I have ever used. And that sucks! Because now I want one. Alright Chris who is doing who the favor here? LOL.

Upon some of my research I learned and I hope I am correct that this razor is Rhodium plated and that is clearly playing into it prettiness. The razor is so shiny and I think it has solidified that when I finally decide to send off my Grandpa's slim that I will be getting it Rhodium plated.

I did do a 2.5 pass shave and walked away with a wonderful BBS+ shave.

I am left confused here because there are really two reasons one could be interested in this razor.

First you have $250 and you want a razor. You have the in on an Aristocrat that is in this beautiful of condition or the Timeless. Boy this is hard to answer. And I am going to take more time to think on it, and this will be the reveal next week,..

Second like Chris's situation. He already owns this beautiful Aristocrat. So is he missing out on this $250 razor? Honestly it is so tempting to just say... only you can determine that. So I am trying VERY hard to answer the question which one is the better shaver. And the only way I think I can answer this next week is to ask myself which one would I rather have if I can only have one. Geez this harder than I thought it would be!

Well story time
. Last week my phone started acting really weird, certain features I use stopped working and it was getting rather upsetting. So I called in and used the warranty and had a new phone sent. So yesterday I went through the hassle of transferring everything over! Man this process needs to be easier what a PAIN! Granted it is way better than it used to be. Anyways as I was getting ready for bed I realized I didn't set an alarm. Well guess what Google transferred that over! I saw the alarm already set so went to bed. Well when the alarm went off it was a different alarm sound! It sounded like running water. I jumped out of bed thinking a pipe had burst I am looking everywhere in the room for water, NOTHING then I see it my phone blinking oh man not a way to wake up! I quickly changed to the tone and jumped in the shower! I am not a snooze guy so nothing missed out on. Just not a fan of waking up to my heart beating that quickly lol!

Have a good day Cadre.

That sounds like a tough comparison between those two razors. Loved the alarm story. Maybe not the best way to wake up, but it sounds like it certainly got the job done lol.

Good video. Like you, I mainly listen to the videos, while I’m doing other things, like dishes, laundry, or driving to work. Kinda like podcasts. So I don’t mind the just narrative video.

I feel sorry for those who have neither one of these fine razors. The timeless is fairly easy to find but the Aristocrat is not so easy. I am at a loss, I have far too many DE's to justify another BUT it I found a British open comb I'd be all over it.

Keep it up, people need to know which one to buy!

Yep, that’s me too. Once in a while I’ll give full attention, but usually I’m listening while doing something else, peeking once in a while at the action.

Oh it got the job done LOL! And I am glad people are liking the comparisons.

Thanks and good to hear.

Thanks Chris. And if I ever run across one in the wild I will probably buy it.

I’d just like to have either of those razors.

Funny about the alarm.

I would like to have both LOL!

Well today in the comparison shaves the Timeless was on deck. And boy howdy what a shave. I talk about it in the video pretty extensively but I think the big thing about this razor and one of the vast differences I can find is that this razor is just perfectly balanced. The shave today was effortless and I walked away with a BBS. If you want to hear a complaint about the Timeless here is one I can give you, the shaves could get boring.

The soap today provided excellent suds and this is a very unique scent that is very nice. Think strong lime with a hit of cedar.

So anyways another update on the schedule. I will pick back up this Timeless vs. British Aristocrat next Wednesday.
